RIP Slash
Slash was a much-loved, exceptionally well-trained horse with quality blood lines known for its distinctive pixie ears. He became a remarkable working and lead horse, initially trained in Penhalonga, Zimbabwe, under the guidance of a former BSAP mounted police officer, whose old-school horsemanship left a lasting influence.
Slash went on to enjoy a long and adventurous working life, including many years on Benguerra Island from 2007, where he was deeply loved by riders including Lucy Campbell Jones, Robyn Dunne, Charlotte Levens, & Sarah Nel. Known for his forward-going nature, intelligence, love of swimming, and strong character, he remained full of life well into old age despite worsening eyesight, often still leading rides almost blind while wearing a fly visor mask.
After nearly 30 years of life and 19 years on the island, he was gently and peacefully put down on Benguerra by Charlotte & Sarah with veterinary support, leaving a lasting legacy and deep affection from all who knew and rode him.
