Earlier this morning, the management team of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) had the pleasure of hosting the northern-based Rani Group, led by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ali Dahrani, on a guided tour of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Waterfront developments, including the Namibia Maritime Museum.

As respected entrepreneurs in the development and retail sectors, the delegation expressed their appreciation for the vision, progress, and world-class facilities established along the Lüderitz Waterfront. They were particularly impressed by the diverse offerings and the significant potential the development presents for tourism, business, investment, and economic growth.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with the Rani Group pledging to become ambassadors for the Lüderitz Waterfront by helping to share the story of this remarkable destination with a wider audience.

LWDC extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Ali Dahrani and his team for their visit and looks forward to exploring future opportunities for collaboration.

The Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) is stepping up momentum to advance the implementation of its strategic flagship infrastructure developments. The company recently hosted a joint meeting in Lüderitz with executive management from The Namibian Ports Authority - Namport and Gondwana Collection Namibia.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ongoing developments in the harbour town of Lüderitz and to ensure that the envisaged Lüderitz port expansion, under the auspices of Namport, complements ongoing waterfront development projects.

On the occasion, LWDC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fluksman Samuehl, who hosted the meeting, underscored the importance of collaboration between State-Owned Enterprises. Mr. Samuehl also serves as Chairman of the Public Enterprises CEOs/MDs Forum.

Mr. Samuehl further pointed out that LWDC and Namport have collaborated well over the last 30 years and that the two sister public companies enjoy excellent working relations. The Namport delegation was led by Mr. Elzevir Gelderbloem, Port Engineer, who represented the company as Acting CEO. The Gondwana Collection Namibia delegation was led by Mr. Jaco Visser, Finance Director.

Recently, the Cabinet approved a proposal by LWDC to proceed with the luxury harbour-front hotel development worth N$200 million. Mr. Samuehl observed that LWDC should be the leading public entity when it comes to implementing key infrastructure in response to the 8th Administration’s call for decisive action, in view of the need to attain the NDP6 and Vision 2030 national development objectives.

The three parties agreed to continue meeting and exchanging views on matters of development, with the shared aim of making Namibia a better place for all who live in it.

Official Inauguration | Conference Venue Naming Ceremony

On Friday, 27 May 2026, the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) officially inaugurated three conference venues named in honour of three distinguished individuals whose leadership, service, and contributions have become an integral part of LWDC’s institutional journey: Goab Cornelius Fredericks, Susan Harris, and Ms. Seloma Julius.

The naming of these venues reflects LWDC’s commitment to preserving the legacy of those who helped shape institutions, served their communities with dedication, and contributed to the development of Lüderitz and Namibia.

These conference facilities are more than meeting spaces. They are platforms for dialogue, stakeholder engagement, training, workshops, corporate events and strategic decision-making. As Lüderitz continues to grow, these venues will play an important role in strengthening the town’s position as a business, cultural and development hub for the //Kharas Region and Namibia.

In the words of LWDC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fluksman Samuehl, these spaces are intended to “serve as catalysts for innovative discussions” and give rise to “development ideas and major decisions” that contribute to Lüderitz, the //Kharas Region, and Namibia’s competitive growth.

Mr. Samuehl further reflected:

“Success is never a solo endeavour; it is the result of collective passion. By drawing inspiration from those who came before us, who sacrificed, worked diligently, and helped pave the way, we are able to achieve what is possible today.”

LWDC remains committed to honouring this legacy while creating spaces that inspire progress, strengthen institutions, and support meaningful development for Lüderitz and beyond.
