"I had the privilege of doing a tour with Francois, and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable travel experiences I have ever had.

Francois is an exceptional guide. His passion for Namibia, extensive knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm made every day of the tour both fascinating and enjoyable. He has an incredible ability to combine professionalism with humor, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and truly part of the experience.

What stood out most was his genuine care for his guests. Francois goes above and beyond to make sure everyone's needs are met and that every moment is special. His knowledge of the country, wildlife, culture, and landscapes added tremendous value to the trip and made the experience even more meaningful.

By the end of the tour, it felt as though I was saying goodbye to a friend rather than just a guide. Francois has a rare talent for creating unforgettable experiences and making people feel welcome from the very first day.

I highly recommend Francois and Tracking Namibia to anyone looking for an authentic, well-organized, and truly unforgettable adventure. Thank you, Francois, for an incredible journey and memories that will last a lifetime!"

Francois checking in from Midgard on the final morning of another tailor-made Namibia journey. 🌿

This family wanted lots of wildlife, less time in the car and a trip that worked for everyone. We built their itinerary around their pace, interests and budget - with Etosha, changing landscapes and two relaxing days at Midgard before flying home.

Namibia is all about ā€œlandscape, people, animals and the beauty of contrast.ā€ Every day brings something different.

And sometimes, guests become friends along the way. ā˜•šŸ˜‚

There’s something about watching a giraffe at an Etosha waterholešŸ¦’

The slow approach. The awkward stance. The long pause before they finally drink.

And while they might look like regulars at the waterhole, giraffes don’t actually need to drink every day. Much of their moisture comes from the leaves they eat - a useful advantage in Namibia’s dry landscapes.

Still, when they do decide to stop for a drink, it’s one of those sightings you don’t rush.

Have you ever seen a giraffe at a waterhole?

Field notes from Francois at Okutala Etosha Lodge

Vehicle ready. Sun already up. Clients almost ready.

Today they’re heading through Etosha from Okaukuejo side towards Namutoni - roadworks, detours and all.

Yesterday brought elephants, rhinos and plenty of wildlife… so let’s see what Etosha has planned for today.

Safari days are not always polished. Sometimes it’s early mornings, waiting around, dusty roads, and changing plans.

And somehow, the dust, delays and detours become part of the story - Stay tuned for more!!

Field notes from Francois in Sossusvlei šŸŒ…

Beautiful sunrise. Winter morning. 31°C by day. And yes… that long line at the gate is very real.

High season in Namibia means the famous places can get busy - especially Sossusvlei.

But this is exactly why local knowledge matters.

We know when to go, what to expect, and when it’s time to leave the rush behind and find the quieter, wilder corners that make Namibia unforgettable.

Because Namibia isn’t just about ticking off the famous stops. It’s about knowing where the magic continues after the crowds move in.

may only get one day… but we think Africa’s wild cats deserve a little longer. šŸ†

A leopard sighting is never guaranteed - but always unforgettable..

Lion? Leopard? Cheetah? You might be lucky enough to see them - but nothing is ever guaranteed out here.

Namibia has a few smaller wild cats that don’t get nearly as much attention - like the caracal, serval, African wildcat and tiny black-footed cat.

Some you might be lucky enough to spot. Others are very good at making sure you don’tšŸ˜…

So, how many of Namibia’s seven wild cats did you know?

Everyone comes to Namibia hoping to see a lion or a leopard. Fair enough.

But did you know Namibia is home to seven different wild cat species?

There’s the lion, leopard, cheetah and caracal - the ones most people know. Then there are the serval, the African wildcat, and the tiny black-footed cat, one of Africa’s rarest and most elusive predators.

Spotting any one of these cats is still a special moment. You never know what the next game drive might bring.

So… how many of the seven did you know before watching this? šŸ‘‡

Some of the best places in Namibia don’t come with an address. Or proper road… That’s exactly why we go.

For more than 25 years, we’ve been exploring the roads less travelled - gravel tracks, mountain passes, and hidden corners most visitors never get to see.

That’s the beauty of expedition-style travel.

You bring the curiosity. We’ll bring the 4x4, the local knowledge, and a route you won’t find in any standard itinerary.
