Travelling in Namibia - Self-Drive ‘v’ Guided Trips

One of the questions I'm asked most often is whether to self-drive or take a guided trip around Namibia. Well - both are wonderful options. The roads are easy, the driving is safe, and either way you'll have every opportunity to get the sand between your toes and experience the very best this extraordinary country has to offer. Ultimately it's a personal decision - one that usually comes down to confidence and experience. But whichever you choose, we'll be with you every step of the way.

Self-Drive:
Affordability - Save on the journey and spend where it matters most; those well-earned upgrades and extras – hot air ballooning?
Freedom - Leave when you want, stop where you want, and discover Namibia entirely at your own pace.
Solitude - Linger at a waterhole, wait for the perfect sighting, and soak it all in without the pressure of a group.
The Joy of the Drive - Quiet, endless, well-maintained gravel roads in a comfortable 4x4; this is the experience.
Authenticity - Meet locals, browse roadside vendors, and catch genuine glimpses of Namibia's rich and varied cultures.

Guided:
Guided & Privately Guided Tours
Expertise - Benefit from the knowledge of experienced guides who know the land, the wildlife, and the stories that bring it to life.
Effortless Travel - Every transfer, lodge, and meal taken care of; simply arrive, relax, and let Namibia unfold around you.
Deeper Wildlife Encounters - Trained eyes spot what many travellers miss; from that wonderfully camouflaged leopard to the call of a Pels Fishing owl.
Safety & Confidence - Navigate the remote and sometimes challenging terrain of Damaraland, Kaokoveld & Skeleton Coast - with the reassurance of someone who knows it intimately.
Connections That Matter - Private guides unlock access to local communities, conservancies, and cultural experiences that alone you’ll rarely find.

Or – why not combine the two?
The hybrid option is also a great way to experience Namibia. Enjoy exploring the south at your own pace, before letting a professional guide take over the driving, letting you relax and discover the best of the north and Etosha NP.

A huge thanks to professional guide, Orlando Haraseb for these great shots from a recent trip he did for us.

20 Years of B Corp!

Greenwashing. Green shouting. Green rebranding.
The loudest voice in the room isn't always the greenest.

B Corp certification doesn't care about your sustainability page - it measures what you actually do. And it can't be bought with a rebrand.
At ATI Holidays we didn't change our values to earn the badge - the badge recognised the values we already had.
Doing business for good. Proudly independent. Proudly B Corp certified.

Twenty years ago, three friends set out to prove that business could benefit people and planet, not just shareholders. The answer is now an ecosystem: over 10,000 certified companies across 100 countries, with the resilience, energy, and connectivity to drive forward systemic transformation.

The B Corp community isn't just about certification, it is the largest act of business solidarity in history.

We’ve called on lots of friends and movement partners to share their reflections on the journey so far. Travel to the past with our interactive timeline capturing important moments in our history, and celebrate the present, how far we’ve come, and pause to reflect on the future we want to build together.

Our guide Toni Hart ( Toni K Hart Photography), recently shared some images from her guided trip to Shipwreck Lodge. She emphasized how "stunning, dreamy, and peaceful" it was, and how 3 nights was just the right duration to make the most of this unique location.

We’re very proud of the positive relationships we have with our trusted service providers, and spending time together is a great reminder of why we love tourism.

Last week, Wilderness swapped the boardroom update for a Wilderness Safari Quiz, complete with lodge trivia questions, spot-the-animal, superb snacks, much laughter, and fab prizes.

A huge appreciation to the team for making this happen!

Although Sossusvlei is located in the arid Namib Desert, occasionally heavy rains fall in the distant Naukluft Mountains causing the ephemeral Tsauchab River to flow, sending massive volumes of water flowing into the desert floor faster than the sand can absorb it. This rare ‘’water world’’ amid the towering dunes brings a stunning perspective to our ancient desert.

Thank you to our guide Toni K Hart Photography for these amazing images

We Are Africa!
Sometimes you need to be reminded why we do the things we do. A week spent at WAA, in the company of friends, old & new, the inspiration of explorer Dr Steve Boyes, combined with the vibrancy and energy of the event was the perfect reminder and motivation.
Thanks to everyone who had meetings with Nicole and I - we really loved & appreciated the engagement, listening, wine and simply catching up with like minded mates. 😋

Today we join millions around the world as we celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. I was recently asked, as part of our staff leadership training, to think of someone who inspired me and whose values I connected with. I chose David Attenborough with his boundless curiosity and passion for the natural world, and his lifelong quest to share & protect its wonders.

I remember watching Life on Earth as a child, back when we had to patiently wait a whole week for the next episode to air, and being mesmerised by the endless abundance of weird and wonderful creatures with all their bizarre adaptations to so many different environments. I wanted to see them all, to travel across the world, and to save everything I possibly could from the seemingly endless threats we humans imposed upon them.

Zoologist Ferdinando Boero said that you can’t protect what you don’t know, and Sir David’s gift to the world has been to ignite his same curiosity and passion in so many more, to educate and inspire us to protect our earth and the amazing variety of life that we share it with. Thank you Sir David, and a huge Happy centenary Birthday!
