estimated to contribute 2% - 5% of our GDP. Its' impact
virtually cuts across all sectors of the economy
especially the creative and recreation sectors. Thus, it
can be a major driver of our economic growth by
creating jobs, attracting investment and foreign
exchange. As an emerging economy, invigorating the
Tourism sector will accelerate the development of
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Sub
sector.

The Federal Ministry of Aviation is charged with the responsibility for the formulation and
management of Government policies and programmes on Aviation. The Ministry is directly
responsible for overseeing air transportation, airport development and management,
provision of Aviation infrastructural services, the provision of aviation security, improvement
of airspace management and other needs for the overall development of the aviation sector in
the country.
The Ministry ensures that safety and security measures in the sector are in line with the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) requirements and recommended best practices for the enhancement of
safety oversights.

This year's edition with the theme: 'TOURISM AND
TRANSPORTATION INTERDEPENDENCIES FOR
INCLUSIVE GROWTH AND SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT', has an international dimension
with participation from the international community.
The connectivity brought by road, rail, air and
maritime transport is at the heart of tourism
development, providing substantial economic
benefits for all those involved in the tourism value
chain. It is against this backdrop that the International
Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo is
organized to bring together key players in the two
industries for a healthy dialogue and interface aimed
at strengthening the links between both sectors and
maximizing their impact on employment, inclusive
growth and sustainable development.

The Federal Government of Nigeria in her drive to
reposition the economy approved during the 15th
National Council on Transportation meeting in Sokoto
in 2017 and the Federal Executive Council, for the
Institute for Tourism Professionals (ITP) to organize
annually, a Transportation Tourism Summit and Expo
in collaboration with the Federal Ministry
Transportation and other Government
Ministries/Agencies and Non-Government
Organizations together with the private stakeholders
across the transportation modes, tourism and
hospitality value chain for sustainable economic
growth and development.
