If this is your first time traveling abroad or you need a refresher, here are 13 golden tips you need

1. Check in with your doctor to make sure you have all the proper vaccinations and get an updated traveling insurance
2. Bring copies of your passport in case your passport get stolen or missing.
3. Leave a copy of your passport at home or have an electronic copy
4. Register with your embassy, this is important incase there's a problem in the country you intend to go to, it makes it easier for your government to find you and take you to safety.
5. Look up the monetary conversion before you go
6. Make sure your debit cards work in the country you wanna go to
7. For conversion go to the ATMs or the banks, because conversion centers at the airports or around the city tend to be huge rip-offs
8. Always have local cash, not every places accept bank cards
9. Get a guide book which includes maps, and download apps before you travel
10. Bring a charger adapter, countries have different plug sizes and current.
11. Always pack extra set of clothes
12. To check or not to check your bag, each airline has its own set of guidelines as to how many bags can be checked or carried on for free. Make sure to look up what your airline’s rules are to avoid any incremental fees. And, if you are connecting during your trip, know the luggage rules/fees for those airlines as well especially for regional or low-cost carriers.
13. Bring snacks along and your local food, eating in a foreign country can sometimes become a task. Bring small snacks that will tide you over until you find that perfect restaurant or food cart.
