Gov Inuwa Yahaya Inaugurates New Cabinet, Expands Executive Council to 23 Ministries

GOMBE – Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated a new State Executive Council comprising the Head of Civil Service, 23 Commissioners, 13 Special Advisers and a Permanent Secretary, with a charge on the appointees to deliver on the administration’s development mandate.

The swearing-in ceremony, held in Gombe, marked the beginning of a new phase in the governor’s efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and consolidate achievements recorded by the administration in the last seven years.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya tasked the newly appointed officials to justify the confidence placed in them by working with commitment, transparency and accountability, while ensuring that government policies and programmes positively impact the people.

With the administration approaching its final year, the governor urged the appointees to hit the ground running, stressing the need for measurable results and improved performance across ministries.

He warned against corruption, indiscipline and misuse of public resources, reminding the officials that public office remains a responsibility entrusted by the people.

As part of efforts to reposition the state’s governance structure, Governor Inuwa Yahaya increased the number of ministries from 18 to 23 and created the Ministry of Livestock Development as well as the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The governor said the Livestock Development Ministry was created in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen livestock production, develop value chains, improve food security and promote rural economic growth.

The new commissioners and their portfolios are: Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, Agriculture and Food Security; Micah Sunday Hamman, Budget and Economic Planning; Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, Education; Sanusi Ahmad Pindiga, Energy and Mineral Resources; Yusuf K. Jalingo, Environment and Forest Resources; Muhammad Gambo Magaji, Finance and Economic Development; Professor Danladi Adamu Bojude, Health; Mohammed Saidu Fawu, Housing and Urban Development.

Others are Aishatu Mohammed Bose Ahmed, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Moses Kyari Bolda, Information, Strategy and Culture; Adamu Dishi Kupto, Internal Security and Home Affairs; Zubair Muhammad Umar, Justice; Ibrahim Shehu Turaki, Land and Physical Planning; Salihu Baba Alkali, Livestock Development; Sani Ahmad Haruna, Local Government and Community Development.

The list also includes L.D. Faruk, Rural Development and Cooperatives; Dr Habu Dahiru, Science, Technology and Innovation; Shehu Yerima Abdullahi, Special Duties and Regional Integration; Nasir Mohammed Aliyu, Trade, Industry and Tourism; Engineer Bala Adams, Water Resources; Dr Bertha Danja, Women Affairs and Social Development; Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, Works and Infrastructure; and Yusuf Abdu Kwadon, Youth and Sports Development.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya commended the Gombe State House of Assembly for the prompt screening and confirmation of the nominees, describing the relationship between the executive and legislature as key to the success of his administration.

Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, described the inauguration as another step towards strengthening public institutions and repositioning the civil service for improved performance.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubair Muhammad Umar, who spoke on behalf of the appointees, appreciated the governor for the opportunity and pledged their commitment to efficient and people-oriented service delivery.
