Igboukwu the Source last Saturday Eke 13th June, 2026 played host to the eminent personalities sent to the town by HE Soludo on fact finding mission. They are:
The Honourable Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment Hon. Udoji Amedu Okolo, his Housing Counterpart Hon. Arc. Henry Arinze, the Director General BPE Hon. Obi Okonkwo, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Entertainment Hon. Jeremiah Iloka and the Member Representing Aguata II State Counstituency Hon. Engr. Tony Muobike and a host of others.
It will be recalled that the Anambra State House of Assembly last Thursday Afo 11th June, 2026 passed a Motion sponsored by Hon. Tony Muobike for the Declaration of National Yam House Etiti Village Igboukwu as a State Tourism Site.
The Governor sent them to among other things visit the proposed sites which included:
The Anambra State Museum, Ngo Village Igboukwu and National Yam House Etiti Village Igboukwu. They should ascertain whether there is land for the project and access to the site and other details of community partnership and involvement with investment in the proposed project.
The State Government intention is to make National Yam House Etiti Village Igboukwu a Tourism Hub for the State so that it will not be a site for only Yam Festival usage but a site for all the year round usage.
In view of the above more land is needed for State Project.
A meeting is scheduled to hold between the land owners, stakeholders and government on the best way to make the festival an International one and make the site to be the best.
