Here’s a clear breakdown of what this update means:
🛂 New U.S. Visa Policy for Nigerians (Effective July 8, 2025):
🔁 1. Single-Entry Visa Only:
If you’re a Nigerian applying for most nonimmigrant visas (like the F1 student visa, B1/B2 tourist visa, etc.), you will now only get a single-entry visa.
That means: once you enter the U.S. and leave, you cannot use the same visa to come back — you’ll need to apply for a new visa again.
🕒 2. 3-Month Validity:
Your visa will now be valid for just 3 months from the date it is issued.
So, you must enter the U.S. within those 3 months. After that, even if you haven’t used it, it expires.
🎫 Visas Issued Before July 8:
If you got your visa before July 8, 2025, it still follows the old rules (e.g., multiple entries, longer validity) — you’re not affected.

🎓 For F1 Student Visa Applicants.
Your I-20 and visa still let you stay for the duration of your studies, even if your visa “expires” after 3 months.
But if you travel home or leave the U.S. during your studies, you will need to reapply for a new visa to return.
