At the top is the Obafemi Awolowo Museum in Lekki which has an array of Papa Awo's personal effects and official paraphernalia on display.
Bottom left is the eight - seater Mercedes Benz 230.6 saloon car which travelled the length and breadth of our great Nation in Papa's quest for growth and development.

In the middle is Papa Awolowo's final resting place in Ikenne. May he continue to find rest with his maker.

Bottom right are Awolowo's famous spectacles which he wore at all times. His favourite was the one with the spiral hanger.

Chief Jeremiah Oyéniyí Ọbáfẹ́mi Awólọ́wọ̀ GCFR - 6 March 1909 – 9 May 1987, was a Nigerian nationalist and statesman who played a key role in Nigeria's independence movement, the First and Second Republics and the Civil War. He was the first premier of the Western Region and later federal commissioner for finance, and vice chairman of the Federal Executive Council during the Civil War. He was thrice a major contender for his country's highest office.

A native of Ikenne in Ogun State of south-western Nigeria, he started his career, like some of his well-known contemporaries, as a nationalist in the Nigerian Youth Movement in which he rose to become Western Provincial Secretary. Awolowo was responsible for much of the progressive social legislation that has made Nigeria a modern nation. He was the first Leader of Government Business and Minister of Local Government and Finance, and first Premier of the Western Region under Nigeria's parliamentary system, from 1952 to 1959. He was the official Leader of the Opposition in the federal parliament to the Balewa government from 1959 to 1963. In recognition of all these, Awolowo was the first individual in the modern era to be named Leader of the Yorubas (Yoruba: Asiwaju Awon Yoruba or Asiwaju Omo Oodua).

THE CELESTIAL CITY IMEKO⛪️🌟 The Celestial City at Imeko is the headquarters of the celestial church of Christ ( ijo mimo ti Kristi lati orun wa). The founder of the church worldwide, Prophet S.B.J Oshoffa was known for his miracles and prophesies was a father to thousands of devotees until his death in 1991.

The Imeko landmark is a tourist destination to many. Driving through the gates of the city, you are enthralled by a sea of barefooted members all clad in white which gives an almost heavenly ambience.

Right in the middle of the city is a glass mausoleum which houses Papa Oshoffa's remains. Further along, is an exhibition Centre which tells pockets of stories of the beginning of the church till date. The exhibition center also showcases the wreckage of the car the Prophet died in. Another room has a display of papa Oshoffa's personal effects. Picture and info credit

SACRED HEART HOSPITAL ⛑🚑 Established in 1895 by the Catholic Mission in Abeokuta. It is indeed the first hospital in Nigeria. Conceptualized by Father Francois and J. M. Coquard it was initially located within the old mission house in Itesi, Abeokuta.
Between these two missionaries, the idea of a mission hospital was so grand and ingenious to them that Father Coquard ( a self taught doctor) became Architect contractor and labourer. The foundation stone was laid on the 14th of October 1904 and formally opened on the 4th of May, 1914 by the then colonial governor, Sir W. Egerton (KCMG). The hospital was run by Father Coquard and and staffed by Our Lady of Apostle Sisters (nuns).
The sculpture of Father Coquard stands proud in front of the hospital till date.
