Fun fact: The Schengen Area is named after a tiny village in Luxembourg — Schengen — with a population of under 700 people, simply because that’s where the original 1985 agreement was signed, on a boat on the Moselle River (the location was chosen because it sits right at the border of Luxembourg, France, and Germany, making it a neutral meeting point).
Today that agreement covers 29 countries and lets travelers and visitors move across borders without passport checks — all from a village most people have never heard of. 🤓
