It's. The. Biscordint !!!
Hello there! Well, do you know that the Largest Lake Village in Africa and arguably in the world is located in the Country of Benin? This village built with bamboo on stilts is called The Ganvie Lake Village and is a settlement of about 20,000 people right in the middle of the Lake Nokoue, near Cotonou. History tells that The Ganvie Lake Village came into being in the 16th and 17th centuries when Fon warriors used to capture slaves so as to sell to European traders. However, the Fon religion forbade them to go into the river so the Ganvie settles escaped into the Lake Nokoue to settle down. The villagers in Ganvie are popularly called "water men" and this village was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on October 31, 1996.
