To study in Canada, students must show IRCC they have enough funds to cover:
First-year tuition fees
Living expenses
Return travel costs
Minimum living funds (outside Quebec) For applications submitted from 1 September 2025: CAD 22,895 for one student (excluding tuition and travel). Higher amounts apply if family members are accompanying the student.
Accepted proof of funds:
Bank statements (6 months)
Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)
Education or student loan
Tuition payment (first semester; full-year fees if possible)
Scholarship or sponsorship letter
Canadian bank account (if applicable)
Parent or sponsor financial support letter
