HOW TO GET VISA TO ANY COUNTRY
Nigerians travel abroad for different reasons. Some go for pleasure while others for greener pastures. Yet there are those who go for business or academic purposes. Annoyingly, many of these Visa Applications submitted by Nigerians are turned down or refused for different reasons.
Many have concluded that Visas can only be approved by some spiritual enablement. I am not here to rule out the efficacy of spiritual enablement but to give you a guideline on the things to do to increase your chances of getting your Visa Approved.
Several factors contribute to the denial of visa. What many Nigerians don’t know is that consular officers scrutinize each application individually by checking your for Family ties, Travel Itinerary, How viable your business or job is (most times from your statement of account), and also your profession and social ties. EVERY APPLICATION IS UNIQUE.
If you want your Visa to be approved, Pay Attention to the Following:
1. TRAVEL HISTORY: Embassies obviously grant visa more easily to those who have travelled to other countries. This is due to the fact that they perceive Nigerians as always not wanting to come back once they leave the shores of this country. Therefore, if your Passport is still a “Virgin Passport”, you need make sure you understand the rest of this article very well.
2. CASH FLOW: One of the main determining factors for the approval of your visa is your cash flow which is reflected in your statement of account. Usually, most Embassies would want to see your statement of account for the last 6 months. The first thing the consular officer wants to see is your turnover (The Total Debit and Total Credit on your Statement). If you have a high turnover, Embassies like the US will assume that you are financially stable and therefore are likely to come back if granted Visa. In cases where you are required to show a proof of having your living expenses for the duration of your stay, it is expected that your account balance show a reasonable sum that will take care of that. For example, if someone applying to go to Japan has at least N2,000, 000 balance in his account, his visa is guaranteed to come out in a few days.
Furthermore, you are not expected to lump in money into your account because, to them, this shows you are trying to build the account for the purpose of obtaining the visa. You must build your account naturally (You can contact us for further details on how to do this). Also, if you say you receive monthly salary, the payment of your salary should reflect in your statement of account.
This same thing goes for the statement account of your sponsor.
In summary, your statement of account should show that you have sufficient funds to take care of yourself while in their country.
3. FALSE INFORMATION: False information here means contradictory information. All information you give must flow together. Don’t say one thing here and you say a different thing elsewhere. They are most likely going to find out. Make sure you get all your information they way you want them before filling the visa form.
4. FALSE DOCUMENTS: Because of the stringent requirements from Nigerians applying for visa, most Nigerians are bound to falsify one or two of their documents. Be careful when doing this because if it is detected, it may lead to permanent ban on you obtaining visa to that country.
5. FAMILY/SOCIO-ECONOMIC TIES: You are expected to have a strong family tie here in Nigeria. To the consular officer, this means that you will surely come back within the period you are applying for. Having a spouse and children is a strong tie. A business that is doing very well can also be a strong tie.
For example, there is this guy that got admission in Australia but was denied visa. His father was his sponsor and thus provided his company documents and account. After interviewing them, we found out that they didn’t establish a strong tie. They didn’t tie his going abroad to study to his coming back to take over the father’s business. NOTE: What some countries need to know is that you or someone can foot your bills while others, depending on the influx of Nigerians to that country, will require a strong tie to a business that is sponsoring your trip.
In all, evidence of strong ties include proof of economic ties, business ownership, employment, Membership of Professional Bodies (Social Ties) and family relationships
(Contact us for more details on Family ties)
6. LACK OF GOOD INTERVIEW SKILLS: Someone rightly said that first impression is the only impression. Truly, you won’t have the chance to make a second impression. You must be ready to give the right and short answers to any question you are asked. This means that you must study your application very well especially when you didn’t fill it yourself because what they will ask you will be from the data in your application.
Please DON’T PANICK, DON’T FIDGET, and DON’T SOUND OR APPEAR DESPERATE. If you are stuck in answering a question, apply the FULL STOP. Don’t start stammering while trying to remember what to say.
Also remember this: You must appear decent and neat. You don’t have to be too gorgeous. Be modest in your dressing but YOU MUST BE NEATLY DRESSED.
7. YOUR APPLICATION FORM: Unless your visa is non-appearance, always request to see the content of your application before going for the interview. If you filled the form yourself, give it to someone else to proof read it. This is important because as you are re-reading your application, you are most likely going to be seeing what is in your mind and not what is on the paper. Be sure that all you have in there are the things you want. No mistakes please.
8. Finally, make sure you find out the cost implication of what you want to embark on before starting the application process. The cost of processing Visa to certain countries might be cheap but the flight ticket will be so high that you may not be able to afford it.
