Last Sunday was nothing short of magical at Ariya 3.0 (2025) —a vibrant fusion of culture, networking, and pure fun.

From the electrifying drums to the Tan ‘n Mo competition, the bold “Dare to Speak Yoruba” challenge, and of course, the mouthwatering food—it was an experience filled with laughter, connection, and cultural pride.

Massive shoutout to the incredible Ariya Planning Committee for believing in the vision and delivering excellence from start to finish. You brought the fire, and it showed in every detail.

Big love to Asorogbagold for the exceptional hosting, DJ YK for the soul-stirring music, and EAD for capturing every laugh, cheer, and tasty bite. You gave us memories we can hold onto forever.

BLACK HERITAGE PODCAST IS COMING SOON

I belong to a generation that often lacks knowledge about its history. Many of us do not recognize the importance of our heritage. As the adage goes, " Omo tó bá so ilé nù, so àpò ìyà kó" —"A child who throws away tradition/heritage prepares a bag of suffering". This situation is exacerbated by the diminishing emphasis on history as a crucial subject in our educational system.

As a graduate of History and International Studies, I am committed to not only teaching history in classrooms but also to advocating for Africa's rich heritage through tourism and documentary. I firmly believe that through cultural programs, African youths can learn and unlearn essential aspects of our history.

This is why I am launching the Black Heritage Podcast, a pioneering initiative in the ancient town of Oyo Alaafin. This podcast will serve as a platform for dialogue on various topics related to our heritage, including language, cultural food exploration, culture and tradition, arts, and crafts specific to Oyo. We aim to invite scholars and experts in these fields to discuss our history analytically, making it accessible and engaging for the Gen Z audience. Kindly recommend any scholar in history to you, it will do us good.

Why am I writing this? This is a call to cultural advocates and enthusiasts to join us in this endeavor. We need your support, stories, and collective effort to promote and preserve our cultural heritage. If we do not discuss and celebrate our heritage, it risks fading into oblivion.
