Experience Akwa Ibom as FTAN plans 2025 Governing Council Meeting in Uyo

All roads lead to Akwa Ibom, as the state is set to play host to the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) 2025 Governing Council Meeting,scheduled to take place from May 21st to 24th.

This was confirmed by a press release signed by the association's president, Nkereuwem Onung and made available to journalists. According to the release, the decision to hold the meeting in Akwa Ibom was based on the state's growing prominence in Africa's tourism landscape.

Nkereuwem who is also the Honorary Special Adviser on Culture & Tourism to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno said the choice of Akwa Ibom as host of this all important council convention is based on its rising profile in the tourism landscape of Africa.

He said leaders of over 20 tourism associations will converge in Akwa Ibom to discuss the future of the industry. According to him, he event promises to be an exciting experience,with key highlights including the FTAN Governing Council Meeting,a Tourism Stakeholders Gala Nite and Experience Ibom Tour to explore destinations in Akwa Ibom State,showcasing its rich cultural heritage to stakeholders and prospective investors.

Mr President called on all tourism stakeholders to participate in the Tourism Stakeholders Gala Nite in Uyo,where they can share ideas and experiences that can boost the tourism industry in Nigeria,Akwa Ibom in particular.

When David first arrived in Akwa Ibom State, he expected just another trip. As a travel enthusiast, he had seen many beautiful places, but nothing prepared him for the magic he was about to experience.

His adventure with Qua Tours began in Ibeno Beach, where the golden sand stretched endlessly, and the waves danced under the warm embrace of the sun. The laughter of children, the scent of fresh seafood, and the cool ocean breeze made him feel at home, even in a place he had never been before.

Next was a visit to Ibom Plaza, Uyo/Raffia Market, Ikot Ekpene, where culture and modernity blended effortlessly. He watched as local artists showcased their craft, tasted delicious Afang soup, and marveled at the friendliness of the people. He couldn’t believe how welcoming and peaceful Akwa Ibom felt—it was as if time slowed down just for him to take it all in.

Then came the highlight of his trip—the iconic Lord Lugard’s residence, the 1914 Amalgamation House, the 1929 Women War Memorial, the Bridge of No Return and the Slaves Dungeons in Ikot Abasi. Standing in front of a piece of history, he imagined the stories embedded in the walls. His heart swelled with appreciation for the rich heritage of this beautiful state.

As he prepared to leave, David made a silent promise—he would return. Because Akwa Ibom was more than just a destination; it was an experience, a feeling, a place that called to the soul.
