Those of us who live more in the city can sometimes underestimate and forget the beauty and importance of nature.

It was such a treat to walk under a full moon yesterday and see the night sky full of stars. It was even more amazing to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping all around me.

How are your New Year's resolutions going?

I used to come here years ago to visit a friend who lived here, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had transformed to this. .bysrs

We had a 5 course dinner. Forgot to take a photo of the smoked salmon crostini.

1. Valouté of leek & onion. I dont know what valouté means, but it was a light soup, with definitely a leeky taste and a strong garlic smell. Although there was no garlic in the soup. I think it was used to garnish.

2. Red snapper. I love fish, but I wish there were more of the veggies on the plate.

3&4. Palate cleanser. This was chilled palmwine. The smoke was from the ice in the clay bowl.

5. Lamb. Right portion for me since I'm not keen on meat. I was afraid it would be dry, but it wasn't. Finally, a taste of pepper with the greens on the plate, which tasted like ugu. The pepper was atarodo. The lamb was also smeared with yaji. Separate potato and mixed vegetable servings to share.

6. Chicken. Nothing really special about this. At this point, I was tired because the time between each course felt a bit long.

7. Passion fruit & mango cheese cake. I really enjoyed this. Wanted to ask for seconds but didn't want to shame myself.

Then, the kitchen seemed to like that edible decorative thing. I've been seeing it too much in Lagos now. Please, overuse is a thing, in my opinion.

Overall, it had a good ambience, a nicely curated menu. Will go back for sure.

Throwback to a beautiful 2016 Christmas spent at Obudu Cattle Ranch. Things had deteriorated quite a bit by then. It was such a fun time though spending time with old friends and making some new ones.

My friend and I had run into this lovely couple who were expecting their first child then. They were such a beautiful team to watch and spend time with. There was friendship, unity, and respect between them.

This was a fun road trip. We had travelled from Lagos by bus, first to Enugu, then Obudu, and celebrated the Calabar Carnival in Calabar.

As we begin a new year, may we continue to meet good people and create beautiful memories with them on our journey.

A major challenge I have found with travelling in Nigeria is finding good rest stops at all times of the day. I have noticed that food options are minimal and toilet stops are well...in a bush.

If we are serious about tourism in Nigeria, we need to think of basic things as good affordable refreshment stops and not having to resort to bushes when one needs a toilet.

This restaurant was the only one available when we needed somewhere to eat before heading up to camp on the hill.

Hiking up Oke Baluu hill in Ikogosi.

The first photo shows the debris from the first plane crash ever in Nigeria. Most of the parts have been taken away by metal scavengers, so this and another piece like it are the only parts left on the hill.

The crash happened during the second world war on 12 April 1942. It was carrying explosives, which continued to go off long after the crash. Some say it was a German plane headed to Lagos.

The area is called Okelapa, but the hill was renamed after the crash to Oke Baluu.

It was also thrilling to run into Mr A on the hike

A good sleep was had outside the city. Sleeping out in nature is so fulfilling

This hill was renamed Oke Balu. It was where the first plane crash ever in Nigerian history occurred. We spent the night here before hiking up the hill the following day.

This suya spot is meant to be the best in town. As a person who isn't particularly fond of meat, I actually liked it.

I don't know the name of the street it was on, but it is opposite the secretariat road in Ado-Ekiti
