Usually the end of May is the beginning of rainy season, and things get pretty nasty weather wise. And there always seems to be a bomber swell at that time plagued with those bad conditions. But this year the conditions got real nice, swell exploded up and down the coast for days on end, and the barrel bender continued.

Well Surfline didn't Surflie this time, this 4/TWENTIES 2025 swell event was an eight day barrel bender. There's still good surf now, and another long run of big consistent swell is already on the way. What an epic start to the surf season down here in Nicaragua.

April 22nd 2025 kicked off a run of swell that Surfline was calling one of the longest most consistent swells in years. Beaches, points, reefs up and down the coast lit up for days on end. Semana Santa in Nicaragua, actually all of Central America, is the biggest holiday of the year. And everyone heads to the beach that week to celebrate. Now that I'm getting older, I don't really feel the desire/need to go out and mix it up with the masses, and party like I used to. So for that week I try to hide out and surf away from "La Fiesta".

Another Day in the Life...

As a young surfer I always dreamed of exploring the dirt roads of Central America in search of perfect waves. Once I graduated high-school the adventures began, and trips became frequent. These frequent trips fueled the passion, and on my 25th birthday I packed my bags, and gave away everything else in pursuit of the surfer's dream. Determined to find a way, make a living, and explore Central America's waves I started off in Costa Rica. After a stint in Costa Rica a close friend convinced me to make the trek up to Nicaragua. That's where I met JJ Yemma, one of the original surf pioneers of Nicaragua. It wasn't long before I bought land, met the girl that's now my wife, and have found a place to call home here in Nicaragua. JJ put me to work as a surf guide shortly after arriving. He gave me the keys to a 4x4, a panga, and I began introducing guests to the best waves Nicaragua has on tap. 15 years later and I'm still surfing the best waves of my life, meeting incredible people, enjoying fatherhood, stacking countless quality memories, and soaking up mind-blowing sunsets on a daily basis. All this has shaped the mantra, and lifestyle that has become..."Another Day in the Life"... It's something I live by, and it's something I love to share with new friends, and old ones alike.
