Here’s what you can expect:

1. A visit to flower auction "Royal Flora Holland"
Early in the morning, we will start from your hotel in Amsterdam and drive ( 35
minutes) to flower auction ’Royal Flora Holland’ in Aalsmeer, 25 km south of
Amsterdam.

At the flower auction, we will explain and show you the entire process of the journey that flowers and plants make from a nursery in Holland or perhaps Kenia (Africa) to
eventually you, the consumer.

2. Gouda cheese at an authentic dairy farm in Holland
Discover how Cheese is being produced!

After the flower auction, we will drive to a Cheese farm where the farmer will show us how the milk from the cows is turned into the original farmer& #39;s cheese. You can buy cheese at this farm or send it home straight from the farm.

3. Authentic Dutch windmill at Zaanse Schans windmills village
After the Cheese farm, we will drive to the Windmills of Zaandam at a little authentic
village called ‘Zaanse Schans’. We can visit a farm where they perform a show, about how Dutch ‘Wooden shoes’ (Clogs) were made. We can visit one of the seven Windmills and get an explanation of how and why the Windmills were used.

Flower is in the spotlight!

December is the month of Christmas, and Christmas is a time for giving.
So when you're thinking about what to get your friends and family this holiday season, don't forget the December birth flower: holly!

Holly is a plant that blooms in the winter, so it's perfect for this time of year. It has shiny leaves that are great for decorating your home for the holiday season, and it can be grown indoors or outdoors. The holly bush was considered sacred in ancient times and was said to possess healing properties. In fact, some people still believe that wearing a sprig of holly will protect them from evil spirits and other dangers.

A visit to the Netherlands of course is not complete without a visit to the Tulip fields. One of the most awesome experiences during your visit to the Netherlands is visiting a real flower farm. But where can I visit the flower fields around Amsterdam? And how can I visit such a farm?

Tulip fields can be found in the well-known Bulb Region, south of Amsterdam. There are two types of bulb flower farms in the Netherlands. One farm grows flower bulbs and sells the bulbs all over the world to professional growers and for flower enthusiasts that like to plant flower bulbs and enjoy a colorful garden in spring. The second farm grows the cut flowers in greenhouses and these flowers are exported all over the world. These farms often grow the flowers in large greenhouses and are therefore often not visible from the outside. Are you planning your trip to the Netherlands for April 2023? Make sure to check out tour 11 of Flower Tours Holland!

On Saturday, April 22, at 9.30 a.m., 2023, the Bulb flower Parade will travel its 40-km route along the main roads from Noordwijk to Haarlem where it will arrive at about 9.30 pm. Between 3.00 and 4.00 pm., the Bulb flower parade will pass by Keukenhof park. The procession will comprise 20 large floats and more than 30 decorated luxury cars, interspersed with a lot of music.

There will be plenty of space along the roadside for the hundreds of thousands of spectators that congregate every year along the route. The parade will remain on view in Haarlem on Sunday, April 23 until 7.00 pm.

From Wednesday, April 19 until Friday, April 21, there is also a possibility to visit the arranging of the floats and cars in the town of Sassenheim.
Alongside the flower parade, you will visit the Tulip fields and Keukenhof. Plenty of reasons to choose tour 11!

A while ago the first bulbs were planted at Keukenhof. This means the Keukenhof season opening is getting a little closer! Are you already planning your visit for 2023? Hereby 3 must-sees:

1) The windmill: You can see it from a great distance, the large windmill on the edge of Keukenhof. The mill has been there since 1957 making it a true historic sight.

2) Willem-Alexander Pavilion: In the 6,000 square meter pavilion, there are several flower shows and the final show is the largest Lily-show-in-the-world, where you can admire 15,000 lilies.

3) Beatrix Pavilion: The chicest and most exotic flowers can be found here. Stroll through the Orchids and Anthuriums and admire the exotic atmosphere in this pavilion!

New month, a new flower is in the spotlight!

This flower of the month recalls the vibrant colors of autumn. Chrysanthemums are one of the most popular flowers in the world and are used in everyday bouquets, as well as for autumn decor at home. With its vibrant colors, they are a reminder of the changing seasons.

Chrysanthemums have been used as symbols of youth in Japan and China. In Japan, they are regarded as a symbol of the sun. The Japanese consider the Chrysanthemum’s perfectly formed flower to be a symbol of perfection.

Depending on the color of the flower, Chrysanthemum can have different meanings. If you want to say ‘I Love you” to a loved one, give a red Chrysanthemum instead of a bouquet of roses! A white Chrysanthemum symbolizes innocence, purity, and pure love.

What do traditions and candy have in common?

Most of Dutch candy stems from traditions. The tompouce (or mille-feuille) for example, originated in Amsterdam and is a traditional pastry consisting of puff pastry and cream, complete with a pink topping. On King’s Day, however, the topping is dyed orange in honor of the royal family, orange being the national color. Another color-related tradition is to bring a shortbread or rusk when a baby is born. When it’s a girl, this rusk is topped with white and pink sugary anise seeds, and white and blue when it’s a boy.

Candy also has the spotlight on several festive days; Saint Nicholas is a holiday for children and is packed with traditions such as placing shoes filled with carrots near a chimney (weird, we know). During that time of the year, supermarkets are stocked with ‘speculaas’ (a variant of gingerbread), marzipan and ‘taaitaai’. Speculaas and taaitaai are quite similar in taste (sweet with spices). But where speculaas is crunchy, taaitaai (meaning tough) is chewy and requires strong teeth and a firm grip to take a bite.
