Kara Future Energy Systems

Kara Future Energy Systems KARA Energy Systems KARA Energy Systems is a worldwide supplier of complete combustion systems for wood and other biomass.

Wood is a environmental neutral source of energy. When it is burnt, a certain amount of CO2 will be released, but if it is not burnt, the same amount of CO2 will emerge from the decaying process. Hence, heating by wood burning under optimal conditions is climate neutral and socially responsible. KARA supplies these optimal conditions, e.g. with its partner Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment, with in

stallations for the generation of sustainable electricity with combined heat and power installations . With its 100 years of experience, KARA knows, like no other in the business, how to burn wood efficiently for heat production. The heat can be used for instance for heating industrial halls or greenhouses, but also the heat can be used for the generation of electricity for own use or delivery to the grid. That is why KARA installations are the answer to rising energy prices. A KARA energy system is delivered turn-key, and our engineers won’t leave before the installation is fully operational.

Following the successful start of assembly, the biomass installation is now becoming increasingly visible on site. Step by step, this sustainable energy solution is taking shape through close collaboration, detailed engineering, and careful ex*****on.

The scale and complexity of the installation highlight the expertise and structured approach of KARA Energy Systems. A great milestone in the realization of a reliable and future-proof energy solution for our client.

More updates will follow as the project continues to progress.

A key milestone | The project has entered an important phase of its realisation. In this update, the first components of the biomass installation are being assembled on site in Spain. The activities are progressing according to plan and reflect the structured and high-quality ex*****on approach of KARA Energy Systems.

This phase marks a significant step towards the delivery and commissioning of a reliable, sustainable, and efficient energy solution for our client.

Construction of the biomass combustion system is progressing steadily on site.

A key milestone in this phase is the assembly of the boiler, which is being built up in three main sections. These components are installed step by step, forming the core of the system and clearly showing the scale and complexity of the installation.

With each section positioned and connected, the full structure of the boiler is now becoming visible. Work continues on site as teams focus on the precise alignment and integration of all elements.

Proud of the people and partners driving this project forward.
More updates soon. 💪

Behind every project is a team that makes it happen...
From engineering to ex*****on, the team brings full energy both on-site and behind the scenes. This biomass installation is fully custom-built in the Netherlands, then transported and expertly assembled on location.

At the same time, on-site preparations are progressing well. The foundation is being laid and essential groundwork is underway, while the client is realizing the boiler house, together creating the basis for a strong start.

Step by step, with precision and dedication, everything is coming together toward one shared goal: delivering the best possible result.

🌍 Driving collaboration for Ukraine’s sustainable future
The NL-UA Forum brought together governments, international institutions, and business leaders to accelerate dialogue on Ukraine’s reconstruction and long-term sustainable development.

A highlight of the program was the CEO Round Table, where ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers, and leading companies exchanged insights on opportunities, challenges, and concrete pathways for impact. The discussion united a strong mix of public and private stakeholders, including organizations such as Royal Philips, Port of Rotterdam, and VDL Group.

Representing KARA Energy Systems, CEO Robert Reinders was invited to take part in this round table, contributing to conversations on sustainable energy solutions and the role of innovation in rebuilding resilient energy systems.

Moments like these underline the importance of collaboration across borders and sectors to create scalable, future-proof energy solutions.

Careful: KARA is on the move 😉
Our combustion systems are… let’s just say: not exactly compact.
When they leave our production facility, it rarely makes the news.

But to be fair: it doesn’t have to.
With transports like this, the entire town quickly notices something is on the move.

Roads temporarily blocked, traffic slowing down… and then there it is.
A solid piece of engineering (and logistics) rolling by.

🇪🇸 Project update | In Spain, construction of a new biomass energy installation at a sawmill is progressing well. The steel structure is currently being assembled, forming the backbone of the future installation.

Step by step, our team is building a system designed to efficiently and sustainably use two different biomass streams for energy generation.

A big thank you to all colleagues and partners on site for their dedication and teamwork. 💪

Biomass can deliver more energy than you might expect at first glance. In addition to the installation itself, there are several additional measures that can be implemented to extract even more energy from biomass.

For example, in various projects we have applied a flue gas condenser, allowing us to recover that last portion of energy from the installation. This is particularly efficient when using fuels with a higher moisture content.

The recovered energy is used to preheat the return water. In the system shown in this image, the condenser is combined with a heat pump: the condenser supplies energy to the heat pump, which in turn preheats the return water.

A well-integrated total solution — fully engineered and delivered by KARA.

Still going strong
At KARA, we build installations for the long term — durable, robust, and designed to perform for decades.

That philosophy is part of our DNA, shaped in part by Klaas Reinders, who, just like the installations he helped build, is not easy to break.

In the photo, Klaas stands next to a 2 MW KARA installation from 1984 in Ireland that is still running at full capacity.

The years may be visible, but inside it still runs like a clock.
Built to last. Just like Klaas.

Diversity in Biomass: Turning Residual Streams into Energy
Every week, we receive questions about the applicability of various types of biomass. And that makes perfect sense because the diversity of biomass streams is enormous. Many of these residual materials hold significant value, provided you know how to utilize them effectively.

At KARA, we have the expertise to convert a wide range of biomass streams into sustainable energy solutions. We are currently working on an installation where straw is converted into steam. Later this year, we will also begin construction of a plant in Germany that will use oat husks to generate energy.

Each type of biomass requires a tailored approach. Transforming biomass into a reliable and efficient energy installation is exactly where we make the difference.

Curious about the possibilities for your biomass (residual) stream? We would be happy to explore them with you.
