Occams provides high-quality strategic services to clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Using mathematical modelling and simulation, relationships between administered drug amounts, resulting drug concentrations and their pharmacodynamic effects can be described and investigated in patient populations. We derive our name from the heuristic principle known as Occam’s razor, attributed to the Fra

nciscan friar William of Ockham (1287-1347): when multiple explanations are equally capable of describing the outcome, the least complex solution is preferred. This strategy produces stable and robust models that are easier to communicate and to apply to the questions that matter. Make no mistake: we deliver complex state-of-the-art modelling, but our many years of experience in academia, regulatory agencies, industry, at CROs, and in providing consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry have honed our ability to ask and answer the key questions in drug development clearly and efficiently without being distracted by side issues. Congratulations to our own Justin Wilkins, who has been announced as the new President-Elect of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP)!

Justin has been a member of the ISoP Board of Directors since 2016, and during this time, he has served as Secretary and a member of the Executive Committee, the chair for the Standards and Best Practices Committee, chair-elect for the Nomination Committee, and as leader or key contributor for several ISoP initiatives.

Justin will succeed Jin Yan Jin as President-Elect at the end of ACoP8 (October 2017), and will start his Presidential term at the end of ACoP9 (October 2018).

Of the 12 high-quality candidates nominated by the ISoP membership in 2017, the Nominations Committee put forward 8 for online election. The following 4 were elected by the membership, and will join the Board on January 1st, 2018.
