The former Palace of Justice in Amsterdam (now the luxury hotel Rosewood which opened in 2025 after a 10 year renovation) was constructed between 1825 and 1829.
Amsterdam's City Architect, Jan de Greef, was responsible for the design. Although no longer recognizable as such, it is in fact a large-scale renovation and expansion of the Almoners' Orphanage, dating from 1663 to 1665, an orphanage for the poorest children.

Definitely worth a visit to admire the 1000+ art works or gardens designed by Piet Boon.

This weekend is the last Formula 1 Grand Prix in Zandvoort (Amsterdam Beach) for the time being, so we stepped into the shoes of an F1 driver and took a spin around the canals in our Giuliana!

The Oude Kerk is the oldest building in Amsterdam (13th century), located right in the historic city center.

Over the centuries, the church grew from a small wooden chapel into a large hall church. Today, the building is considered an important (inter)national monument and a platform for contemporary art!

The Amsterdam canal houses are known for being slim, high and having interiors that run deep.

One of the things that stands out in Amsterdam are the big windows and charming gabled façades, many houses that seemed tiny from the outside opened up into beautiful spaces within.

It is these very gables that are an exclusive Amsterdam design! When looking up at these majestic houses, you can see that many of the gables are adorned with a hook. Although it may look like a decoration, the hook is there to enable tenants to pull large, bulky objects up and into a window at the top floor.

You can see this method being used today as the pulleys are still used for moving furniture in and out of houses.

Pulitzer Amsterdam is a five star luxury hotel in Amsterdam. The hotel consists of 25 historic canal houses from the 17th and 18th century, merged into one.

The hotel appeared as one of the key Amsterdam filming locations in 2004 for the film Ocean’s Twelve and is also known for its annual open-air classical concert in August. The orchestra is situated on a pontoon anchored in front of the Hotel Pulitzer and many of the audience watches and listens from boats.
