The Stone Twins

The Stone Twins Creative Brand Agency The Stone Twins is a creative communications agency founded by twin brothers Declan & Garech Stone, in the last year of the 20th Century.

The Stone Twins’ combination of strategy, creativity and wit delivers engaging concepts, deep brand intelligence and memorable brand experiences. The Stone Twins are the creative agency behind A’DAM Toren, the newly-opened multifunctional tower in Amsterdam. Not only did The Stone Twins devise the name (an abbreviation for ‘Amsterdam’ or ‘Amsterdam Dance and Music’), brand strategy and communicati

ons for A’DAM - and it’s sub-brands Moon, Madam & A’DAM&Co - but they also led the interior design teams in their pursuit of a holistic brand identity. Passionate and assertive about design, The Stone Twins are authors of ‘LOGO R.I.P.’ (a critically acclaimed book that commemorates 50 defunct logos) and regularly contribute articles to various design journals, such as Eye, DesignWeek, Amsterdam Ad Blog and Communicatie. The Stone Twins were Head of the ‘Man and Communication’ department at Design Academy Eindhoven from 2008 until 2013. They currently provide lectures and workshops on visual communication at several international design schools. In addition, The Stone Twins have been speakers at numerous creativity conferences, such as OFFSET and Integrated Antwerp. Alongside running their eponymous studio, The Stone Twins are also available as a freelance creative team. In recent years, they have worked with 180 Amsterdam, Indie and Wieden+Kennedy. The work of The Stone Twins has won awards at D&AD, Dutch Design Awards, ADCN, European Design Awards and FWA; and forms part of the permanent collections of the Cooper-Hewitt New York, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and their parents’ living room. When WTC Amsterdam approached us in June 2024, they challenged us to redefine their identity. Despite its central role in the Zuidas business district, WTC had developed a reputation for being old-fashioned, overly corporate, and exclusive.

Following an intense collaboration, we’re proud to have developed a new positioning and brand identity for WTC Amsterdam. Built around the W–T–C initials, ‘Welcome To Change’ is more than a tagline, it reflects WTC’s evolution from a traditional business hub into a platform for the new economy, open to the people and ideas shaping tomorrow.

Welcome To Creativity.
Welcome To Collaboration.
Welcome To Circularity.
Welcome To Community.
Welcome To Connection.
Welcome To Change.

A Catalogue of Curiosities, Relics, Art and Propaganda – 2010

On the occasion of 40 years in business, we created ‘A Catalogue of Curiosities, Relics, Art and Propaganda’ (or CRAP for short). A visual autobiography told through 40 objects.

15 years on, we’re still making crap.

Concept, Design & Copywriting: The Stone Twins
Specifications: Limited edition book with gummed sheet of images. Six-colour print with gold foil block.
CRAP won a D&AD Pencil in 2011.

All good things eventually come to an end.

But wow, what a sparkling ride! It started just over three years ago with Hans, Maarten, Wesley… and Robbie Williams. Yes, that one. The well-known tea-totaller.

was born after months of trials, testing, and tasting, officially launching in April 2024. Robbie didn’t join in the end, but our journey was full of fun, surprises, insights, and the inevitable challenges of launching a new premium product in a competitive market.

Thank you to all our partners, staff, producers, suppliers, distributors, and restaurateurs – too many to mention – for your support and inspiration. Thanks for the great evenings and the hangover-free mornings.

As all good things come to an end, we’d like to raise a glass! Proost! Cheers! Sláinte!

St. Parrott’s Day Stamp
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve created a stamp honouring Irish striker Troy Parrott, who plays for AZ Alkmaar.

Produced via PostNL’s “Personalised Stamp” service, this unofficial stamp appears ahead of Ireland’s World Cup play-off against the Czech Republic.

Parrott scored all five goals in Ireland’s stunning wins against Portugal and Hungary last November, securing the country’s spot in the World Cup play-off on March 26. Since then, he’s been on fire for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Strictly unofficial. Strictly limited.

Thank you to the entire WTC team – especially Femke, Rogier and Lea – for a wonderful collaboration!

We’re honoured that our poster series for ‘Per4m (International Youth Theatre Festival)’ will be featured in the upcoming book ‘Stedelijk Museum Posters by Color’. The publication showcases iconic posters from the Stedelijk Museum’s renowned graphic design collection, offering a visual journey through mid-20th-century design and cultural history.

We created these posters way back in 2004 – a time before smartphones and social media, when street posters were a valued medium for cultural institutions.
