Monet's Garden and Versailles.

Day 4 - We departed Rouen after breakfast and made our way to LeShuttle. A very quick hour in the terminal for food and shopping. Immigration next French then English both a breeze. Snuck onto an earlier train and with some eye of needle driving from Nathan, it was off to see some fishes. You don't have much room getting a coach onto the train. I'll pop a video up next time we do it for anyone who hasn't seen it before.

After our quick visit to the Anglo-French Sea Life Centre we popped out back in blighty and made our way to Folkestone Interchange.

Speedy interchange and pit stop later we whisked our way towards the north! M1 drop off's this time round. Finished in Leeds 25 minutes early despite emergency tunnel repairs at the Dartford Crossing.

Time for a bit of a battery recharge before we head back into France for Splendors of Paris on the 15th

W4FMG/1 - Monet Gardens and Versailles.

Day 3 - Versailles. As it's a french bank holiday weekend this weekend there was a lot of confusion over what would greet us at Versailles this morning.

We had multiple sources telling us the palace was closed, other sources telling us it was open. It's been a rollercoaster this weekend.

Anyway I digress, when we arrived in Versailles not only were we greeted by the usual English bank holiday weather but we were surrounded by coaches. That only means one thing. The palace is open,as part of this trip you get access to the palace gardens included (if you want to book the palace itself you need to find out your itinerary as soon as possible and if possible do not book it until the day of the excursion just incase the highly unlikely event of an itinerary change for exceptional circumstances), Which some of our guests did as soon as we saw the amount of coaches in the coach park

We made our way around the queues to the back of the Palace to send our guests into the gardens. Thankfully the weather had started to clear by now and we started to get a little bit of sunshine. The palace gardens are massive (over 2000 acres) so there is plenty to see and do.

Next up we have a weeks rest then the one everyone keeps talking about - W4PAR/1 - Splendors of Paris 4 Day

W4FMG/1 - Monets Garden and Versailles with Shearings Holidays

Day 1 - Nice easy feeder from the North East. First one out of the interchange down to Dover. Very quickly through passport control and EES and an early ferry. These are the days we dream about 😍. We got to the Novotel Rouen Sud around 1920 after driving through a thunderstorm ⛈️, thanks France.

Day 2 - After breakfast we made our way down to Giverney to see Monet's House and Gardens. Every time we visit here it looks different, I can see why he loved this place. Last time we visited we took some drone photos this time we took some from the ground. My favourite part is Monets Chickens (hear me out). Monet's Chickens are a breed of Italian chickens that look very obscure. They look like they have a lion's mane. I've attached a few photos.

After our visit to Giverney we hit the motorway and headed for Rouen City Centre. We dropped the passengers off at the Hall of Toilets (if you know, you know). We decided to have a walk into Rouen and visited where Joan of Arc was killed, the Palace of Justice where you can see the shrapnel damage from a minor disagreement with Germany in 1944 and we also learned today that I can step inside a church without bursting into flames 🔥🔥🔥 when we had a look inside Rouen Cathedral.

Tomorrow we visit an ex capital of France, Versailles to have a look around the palace gardens. Weather permitting we might try and get the drone flying 🪽

After an uneventful feeder on Monday. We put our feet up yesterday while The Ginger Express was in the garage for a routine inspection and maintenance.

Today I was told I was going to another country to help out with a group going to Belgium so I brought my passport. Turns out the group are from north of the border. DOH!

Ah well, back on the ferry to France on Friday to Rouen for W4FMG/1 - Monets Garden and Versailles with Shearings Holidays

Day 3 - Amsterdam!!!

After arriving into Amsterdam a little early, Jason and the group headed for a short walk into the city centre so the group could get their bearings for their free time in Amsterdam. After that some of the group came back to the coach for a transfer to a brilliant canal cruise in the sunshine with Nathan.

As it was the Kings Birthday weekend some of the canals the cruise usually takes were closed so the group got a longer cruise than usual.

We ventured back to central Amsterdam for dinner then set off with another group to a Clog and Cheese Farm so they could see how traditional wooden clogs are made and see the ins and out of how Dutch cheese is made and also how to make Dutch tear gas with curds and whey (if you know you know).

There was a sea of orange in Utrecht to greet us when we got back.

In celebration of Kings night (the kings birthday) here in the Netherlands. Me and Nathan have worn as much orange as possible for our day excursion to Amsterdam.

W4ABH/2 - Dutch Bulbfields and Amsterdam with Shearings Holidays

Day 1 - After completing our North East feeder we made our way towards Dover. Unfortunately our channel crossing was delayed. No problem these things happen (Not very often). We arrived at the brilliant Moxy Utrecht and all our passengers had an amazing night's sleep.

Day 2 - Keukenhof. The Keukenhof flower show is amazing. It needs to be one of those places you have to visit at least once in your lifetime. Running from Mid March to Mid May, flower power is unleashed in its fullest extent here. Every year the displays are different so it's not a "I've seen it once" kind of place. We couldn't have asked for a better day in terms of weather Nathan's sun dance must have worked yesterday. Nath may have also gone a little silly in the gift shop when I told him to take flowers home for his other half. 🌷🌷🌷

4FND/1 - The D-Day Landings of Normandy

We recently visited the Battlefields of Normandy, more specifically the five beaches at Normandy. Our guide was the brillant David Roberts. An expert in the field is always provided with Leger Battlefield Tours. We have given you some aerial views of some of the visits on this trip.

We have a close connection with the D-Day Landings with the only Victoria Cross recipient on the 6th June 1944 being Stanley Hollis of Middlesbrough, which is our hometown and we used to provide school transport for a school in Middlesbrough named after him.

Our next visit to the sites of the biggest day of World War 2 with Leger Battlefield is 26/06/26.
