☑️ Hidden Gems Tour. We walk through the spacious Plantage telling a mix of stories about from BIPOC, Jewish, LGTBQ+ and women's history. Open to groups of up to 12.

☑️ LGBTQ+ History Group Tour. We walk through the old canal belt telling stories of inspiring and challenging LGBTQ+ people from throughout Amsterda

m’s history. Open to groups of up to 6.

☑️ Women's History Tour. Go to historic Amsterdam sites to hear stories of women who fought, wrote, calculated and led through Amsterdam’s chaotic and complicated past. Open to groups of up to 10.

☑️ Customized Private Tour. Tailored to interest and pick-up/drop-off locations, we tell stories of iconic Amsterdammers across more than eight centuries. Tours can be up to four hours.

☑️ Badass Amsterdam DIY Tour. Discover Amsterdam by exploring BIPOC, Jewish, LGTBQ+ and women's history through your phone, on your own time and at your own pace. For larger groups or other private tour options, please contact us.

Do you need a guide in Amsterdam?

You can walk Amsterdam on your own, of course. There’s plenty to see just by looking around, but some of the best parts of the city are not visible.

Who lived here? What happened behind that impressive façade? Why is this street named after that person? A guide can fill in those gaps and sometimes even make you look at a place you’ve walked past a hundred times in a completely different way.

Rachel Ruysch, the only female artist represented on the Rijksmuseum building, actually won one, and she kept painting.

Apparently, her answer to “what would you do if money were no object?” was: keep making art.

Amsterdam looks pretty good in autumn. It gets even more interesting when you know who walked these streets before you.

Behind that beautiful scenery, there are stories.

Women who fought, wrote, calculated and led. About LGBTQ+ Amsterdammers who challenged the rules. About Jewish communities, BIPOC Amsterdammers and other people who helped shape the city, even when history didn’t always give them the recognition they deserved.

September in Amsterdam has its own rhythm. The city gets busier again, but there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy, if you’re willing to risk getting rained on.

There are a few signs that summer is on its way out in Amsterdam:

• Cafés filling up again as people have to hide from the rain
• The apple pies orders triple
• The first brown leaves appear, usually while half the trees are still green
• The bikes are slightly shinier than usual because they’ve just been caught in the rain
• The cultural season wakes up again, with exhibitions, performances, festivals and all the good stuff that returns multiplied after August
• And, of course, people sit outside in 16°C wearing a light jacket and insisting that it’s lovely.

What is the sign that tells you that Amsterdam summer is almost over?
