One of the cool things about telling stories from history is that the story never really stays finished. Just when you think you know someone well, a new detail pops up. A line in a book, a note in an archive, something a guest mentions during a tour.

If you’re the kind of person who puts things in the calendar early, this one’s for you.

Book your Badass Tour more than two weeks in advance, and your ticket will be €30 instead of €40. Same stories, same walks through Amsterdam, same fascinating people from history, with a reward for planners.

Why? Because we’re curious. Some people like to decide on the day, others plan their cultural outings weeks ahead. So we thought: let’s see what happens if the planners get a little perk.

Amsterdam is full of places where history is built into the walls, the streets, the stones you walk over without thinking twice.🧐

⛪ Take the Oude Kerk Amsterdam, for example. Built in 1306, it is the oldest building in the city. It also played a role in the Beeldenstorm, when religious tensions swept through the Netherlands and changed the course of church life here. Today, it stands in the very heart of the Red Light District.

🏣 Then there’s the Prinsenhof Amsterdam, a building with a very different but equally rich story. It originally served as a kind of hotel for nobility, and even hosted the English royal family when they fled the Puritans. For a time, it functioned as a temporary city hall while the Stadspaleis was being built on the Dam. Later on, an Amsterdam School-style city hall was added, and it was city hall once again.

These are places where where Amsterdam’s past is not gone, just folded into the present, and we loove talking about this kind of places!

If you see a queue at Fabel Friet, just know… you’re not the only one waiting. The gulls have been here longer. And they’re watching. 👀🍟

One wrong move and your fries become their fries.

If you see some cool people sharing stories around the city, it might be one of our new guides! Here are the amazing storytellers who have started giving our tours this spring:

🔸 Jacqueline - is a modern storyteller with a big love for the theatrical and mythical traditions, fascinated by stories from different cultures and religions. She loves guiding guests through her hometown Amsterdam and sharing stories from its rich and surprising history.

🔸 Liesbeth - is a Dutch art historian and performer, with a background in contemporary art and social history. Through her tours, she hopes to celebrate the many beautiful stories that make up the rich history of Amsterdam, as well as help people experience the city in a different way.

🔸 Nora - is a performer, writer, storyteller, and musician, born and (mostly) raised in Amsterdam. Wherever she goes, she skips the tourist trail and wanders quiet streets instead, curious about the character of local everyday life. Each time she returns home, she rediscovers Amsterdam with fresh eyes — and each hidden story from its past deepens her love for the city. She enjoys sharing them with visitors through the eyes of a local, a traveler, and a history lover.

🔸 Virginia - grew up in the southeast of the United States. She visited Amsterdam as a tourist herself in 2021 and absolutely fell in love with the city, moving here just 6 months later. Now she enjoys sharing that same enthusiasm and excitement for the city with its visitors. She uses her background as a storyteller and educator to weave together the historical narrative of Amsterdam through stories that aren’t always told in the history books.

More tours, more perspectives, same love for Amsterdam and hidden history underneath it all.

Some stories of Amsterdam are easy to miss unless someone points them out. On this Women’s History Tour, we walk through the city looking at the lives, choices, and resistance of women who helped shape it in ways that rarely make it into the usual narratives.

Together with LWD Amsterdam, we’re opening space for those stories and for the people who want to hear them now.
