We will discuss how they are using immersive media to immerse their viewers and users into different realities, bringing stories of development to the forefront with the use of new technologies, and helping make the everyone’s goals

Joining us in the panel are:

📌 Michiel de Koning, from Heroes & Friends, director of the two of the VR Films showcased at the , "White Mountain: A Call for Climate Adaptation" and "White Mountain: Women Empowerment" from the VR Series "White Mountain. Michiel is on a mission to increase well-being for everyone. With Heroes & Friends he makes it easy for people on a mission to get (recurring) support from friends by creating the most intuitive way to grow a community of supporters for their projects.

📌Katherin Machalek, Creative Director from New Media Advocacy Project, and director of the VR Film "Area 1: Follow the money in a development project in West Africa in virtual reality" which is part of the VR film selection of the . Katherin Machalek is a director and cinematographer based in Brooklyn, NY whose work explores the use of technology and new media for the creation of experimental narratives.

📌Dimitri Moore, former Video Producer & Digital Storytelling Coach from Digital Promise, an organization that developed the project "MyWorld 360: Tell you SDG Story". Dimitri has trained youth in media production and leadership development and has produced music videos, short narrative films, promo and training videos as well as documentaries.

📌Craig Vezina, Executive Director of Z School, a global non-profit that serves as an education + innovation partner for schools, NGOs & social impact organizations. With a passion around the future of learning & technology for good, Craig Vezina is an international education leader, social entrepreneur & futurist.

This is one story behind Women Empowerment by Faith Supeet from the Maasai community.
She is the scriptwriter of film for the White Mountain VR series, that will be screening Friday at the opening of the Afrika Film Festival in Leuven, and next week at the United Nations in Bonn.

We are happy to present you WHITE MOUNTAIN 👉🏼 A film by H&F Chef Heroism Michiel de Koning

This VR series tells the background stories of an unprecedented collaboration of Maasai communities in Southern Kenya to restore the lost icecap on Mt. Kilimanjaro.
It takes you on a journey of several communities that adapt to the prolonged and frequent droughts that hit rural communities the hardest. The new climate reality calls for an adaptation of the lifestyles, but due to the complexity of the challenges they face, it also tells about education, women empowerment, wildlife and land regeneration methods.

Next Saturday 13th you can be part of the Afrika Dag where you can experience more about the Women Empowerment and Climate Adaptation experience the whole day + learn more about the work we are doing with Maasai communities.
