Get active, get adventurous! Join a sailing journey on a Tall Ship - no experience needed. At Windseeker, we believe that life-changing adventures start at sea.

You don’t need any prior sailing experience to join—just a willingness to step out of your comfort zone and onto the deck of a tall ship. Through our international Sail Training programs, you’ll learn to sail, navigate, and work as a team aboard some of the most impressive vessels in the world. Our voyages take place year-round and across the globe. You can choose from different types of journeys. Is it your first time at sea? Are you not sure it’s for you? Sail Training is offered on most of our trips and it will give you a taste of a real seaman’s life. The Exchange@sea is an international youth programme with environmental theme, where friendly mentors will organise fun activities. If you like the thrill of competition and excitement of big international events, you should join the Tall Ships Races or Regattas where you will race against a fleet of international vessels, and then celebrate in port with hundreds of trainees just like yourself. Are you an explorer as well as sailor? Join an Expedition to combine your sailing time with adventures on land. Or maybe it’s the opposite, and you only care about sailing fast, to reach your destination on time – then the Port-to-Port Delivery is for you. The Oceancrossing is the ultimate challenge, a trip of a lifetime – and it’s within your reach. Because Windseekers are team players, we’ll help you to raise the budget for your nautical adventure. And if you are between the age of 15 and 25, you’re eligible for a major discount! Say 'Hi' to Eléna! 👋

Hi ! I’m Eléna, and I’m a new volunteer in the Windseeker office 😎

I discovered sailing when I was 17 and I immediately knew: by combining it with education, I had found my dream career. I experienced sailing on Tall Ships during the Tall Ships Races 2025 and 2026 on board of the Milpat and the Statsraad Lehmkhul. I launched Sail Training France’s “Young Ambassadors” program to give young people the opportunity to discover sailing. I’m also the Ambassador for the Tall Ships Races 2027 in Bordeaux. I’ll meet you there! 😉⛵

Working with Windseeker this year is the opportunity to put my ideas into practice and develop new skills.

I’m very excited to live this new adventure in Amsterdam! 🧭

⛵ Life at sea | Sleeping arrangements

When it comes to sleeping, there are very different options on board. Private cabins, common spaces, hammocks – there’s plenty to choose from, depending on the ship.
Which one is best for you? If possible, try all of them, but here’s a short guide to help you out.

Hammocks: for the most authentic sailing experience, and defying gravity when heeling.
Shared space: for making fast friends – think of a big sleepover!
Private cabins: for peace and quiet, especially if you have health issues, trouble with sleeping, etc.

⛵ Meet Gulden Leeuw

Want to go BIG? Meet Gulden Leeuw, a 70-metre, three-masted tall ship with an impressive, 40- metre masts.

But Gulden Leeuw isn’t just impressive to look at. Life on board is all about getting involved: steering, handling sails, learning to navigate, and, if you’re up for it, climbing higher than you ever thought you would.

With an international crew and plenty to do, boredom is definitely not part of the itinerary.

⛵ Life at sea | What we wear

Packing for the first sailing journey can be a daunting task. Weather at sea does not submit to the standards we know from land, so don’t expect that a heatwave means shorts and t-shirts only!

Night watch in the middle of the sea can get surprisingly cold. A woollen jumper, warm fleece, or dawn jacket under a windproof layer is the way to go. Thermal underwear might come in handy too. Winter hat, scarf, and gloves will not be too much.

During the day, you might not feel the sun as strongly because of the breeze. So don’t forget your cap, sunglasses and sunscreen!
