🌷 ONLY 4 PLACES LEFT ON THIS MONTH’S PRIVATE TOURS

I just discovered this stunning gallery from an Amsterdam fine art photography studio — those rows of tulips stretching to the horizon never get old.

Seeing these makes me even more excited about our upcoming tulip field tours, which are starting in just a week or two! We head out to the actual farmer's fields in Holland — the real thing, not the tourist version.

Just so you know, there's only a few spots left on the private tours.

JOB - Freelance Photography Tour Guide – Amsterdam Photo Safari

Amsterdam Photo Safari is looking for 2–3 friendly photography lovers to join our small team of freelance guides leading photography tours through Amsterdam.

Our tours are very personal – often just one guest or a couple – and focus on helping visitors capture beautiful images of the city while learning more about their cameras.

Most of our guests are American visitors in their 40s, 50s or 60s, so being relaxed, friendly and great with people is just as important as photography knowledge.

Tours range from 3 hours to 7 hours, and often take place at sunrise, sunset or in the evening for night photography.

What the role involves

• Guiding guests through photogenic parts of Amsterdam
• Helping them improve their photography
• Explaining camera settings in a clear and simple way
• Teaching practical techniques such as aperture priority, ISO, shutter speed and night photography using slow shutter speeds

Guests use a wide range of cameras (Canon, Sony, Nikon and others), so you should feel comfortable helping people understand the basics of their camera.

You don’t need to be a professional photographer, but you should have a solid understanding of digital photography and feel confident explaining it to beginners.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Fluent in English
• Friendly, patient and reliable
• Comfortable talking with people from different cultures
• Knowledgeable about digital cameras and photography basics
• Familiar with the streets and character of Amsterdam
• Living in Amsterdam or very close to the city

Pay

€30 per hour.

Important

This is a freelance / self-employed role. Guides invoice at the end of each month for tours they have led.

Tours can be infrequent (sometimes as little as one per month), so it’s best suited to someone who already has other work or flexible income.

Sometimes it’s the simple scenes that stop you in your tracks.

A single field.
One colour.
Rows of pink tulips stretching to the horizon.

When the light hits just right and the breeze moves through them, the whole landscape feels alive.

Spring in the north of Holland is something special, and this is exactly the kind of scene our guests get to experience on our tulip photography tours — far away from the crowds and surrounded by endless colour.

Tulip season is short, but while it lasts, it’s pure magic.

One of my favourite ways to photograph tulips is to get the camera low to the ground and shoot upward through the flowers.

Most people photograph tulips standing up, pointing the camera down into the rows. But when you drop low and aim the lens upward at a right angle, the tulips suddenly feel much taller and more dramatic. The sky becomes the background, the stems create strong lines, and the flowers almost feel like they’re towering above you.

It’s a simple shift in perspective, but it creates a completely different kind of image.

In the tulip fields of North Holland, the rows stretch for hundreds of metres and there’s space to really experiment with angles like this.

This spring I’ll be running small tulip photo tours exploring these landscapes and sharing techniques like this along the way.

Tulip season is short… but when the colours arrive, it’s spectacular.

Most visitors to the Netherlands head straight for the tulip fields around Keukenhof. They’re famous… but for photographers they’re often crowded, fenced, and hard to shoot.

The photos here were taken further north in Holland — quieter countryside where the fields stretch for hundreds of metres and the colours roll across the landscape. It’s a completely different experience with a camera.

This spring, as always, I’ll be taking people out to places like this on my tulip photo tours. We spend the time exploring the back roads, finding the best light, and photographing the fields at a relaxed pace.

Tulip season is short, but when the colours are out, it’s one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Netherlands.

If you’re visiting this spring and want to photograph tulips properly, you’re very welcome to join.

Most people expect the red or pink tulips to be the most beautiful.

Last spring, the white ones completely stole the show.

There’s something about them that feels both peaceful and vibrant at the same time — especially when the light hits them across the fields.

The photos in this album were taken during one of our Tulip Photography Safaris last April, when the flowers were at their peak and the fields seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance.

Tulip season is incredibly short. The fields only look like this for a few weeks in April, which is why these tours fill quickly every year.

🌷 April is coming up fast
📸 Only around 20% of places remain across the remaining tours

If you’ve been thinking about photographing the Dutch tulip fields in full bloom, this is the moment to grab one of the last spots.

And I’m curious…

Which tulip colour would you most want to photograph — white, pink, purple or red?

I think this is my favorite IG feed of Amsterdam. They capture the feel of life on the street while ALSO showing the backdrop beauty of Amsterdam.

I’ve shared it before it gives me the same feeling I get whilst walking around on a tour of the city.

Normally we only post the finished product aka the city scape but this IG feed gives you an idea of how it looks and feels to be walking around some of the most beautiful locations in Amsterdam to photos. Simple excellent and inspiring images!

I think I use the word Serene too often on this page. But goddam, it’s hard not to use it on this image. Ok, one last time, and then I’ll consider consulting a thesaurus.

This photo has captured the summer serenity of one of our favorite locations to photograph Amsterdam.

Some photos from tulip tour adventures over the past week.

You always forget how it feels to be amongst 10 million tulips. It’s not something that you can explain or even remember, I suppose, because it feels new every time.

Loving this early morning capture!
I’m not sure who took it. It wasn’t one of us. If you know the photographer please tag them. Love the mood of amsterdam that you captured in what I presume is just after sunrise.
