Have you already tried the great Dutch haring? do you know the Dutch's most well-kept secret? 🤫

Those that tried haring in the Netherlands know that there's no competition - the Dutch have years of experience in fishing, preserving, and preparing haring 🐟 But there is one thing they don't want you to know... haring isn't Dutch anymore!

After the building of the dikes - the structures that block access to the North sea in big parts of the Netherlands and turn parts of it into a lake - the path of the haring schools was blocked too. That is why the haring you eat in the Netherlands comes from Scandinavia! 😮

If you haven't heard of Foam, then now is definitely the time! The Museum of Photography in Amsterdam presents the new and trendy exhibition "Fashion" by Paul Kooiker (Paul Kooiker). Kooiker brings out our dark desires, fetishistic tendencies, and strange dreams in images. And he does all this not with a professional camera, but with his iPhone! 🤩

3. Concert in Amsterdam:🎶
On the 17th, we're in Paradiso again for a concert by a local Rotterdam-based band: Elephant. 😍 If you like indie-rock and want to try out some new music with a Heineken in hand and a fun atmosphere, you know where to go!😉

If your heart longs for some mouth-watering ramen while the low temperatures outside escape your thoughts, Ramen Kingdom is the place for you! Try out Amsterdam's coolest ramen restaurant, complete with a hype that just doesn't go away! Do keep in mind that the restaurant is only open between Thursday-Sunday from 16 to 22, and prepare for a queue of up to an hour (worth every moment!).😍

2. Short film festival: 🎥
On Sunday the 11th, the Volkshotel will host a whole day dedicated to short films! 🤩 From 15-21 you can expect a cozy and fun atmosphere, popcorn, drinks, and of course - a selection of various short films (with English subtitles😉). Visiting Amsterdam and wondering what's the best way to enjoy the Light Festival? That's what we're here for!✨💞

Every year during winter, Amsterdam hosts the extraordinary Light Festival, where a variety of artists and creators present illuminated works of light throughout the canals of Amsterdam to locals and tourists from all over the world! The theme of this year's 11th edition is "imagine beyond", and it focuses on the power of our imagination in anticipating the future, imagining other worlds, and exceeding the here and now.😍

The absolutely BEST way to enjoy the festival is by joining a cruise through Amsterdam's canals, and our personal recommendation is the special Light Festival cruise offered by !🚤

At Starboard, you will enjoy a cruise of the official Light Festival route, where you can see and experience all the installations and artworks! The cruises are in small, intimate groups, in a covered boat protected from rain and cold (with cozy blankets and heaters🌞). Not only that, but the cruise ticket also includes an open bar where you can enjoy as many soft drinks, beer, and wine as you want! 🤩🥂

The festival and cruise will take place from December 1st to January 22nd, at 4:45 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and 9:45 p.m. Ticket prices are 35€ for adults and 20€ for children, and the length of the cruise is 75 blissful minutes.

The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived, and on Wednesday (30.11) the Dutch Christmas markets will finally open! So what can you expect? Ice skating, a variety of food, gift, and art stalls, Glühwein (mulled wine), and of course - a magical holiday atmosphere like no other!😍 So what are you waiting for?

2. Amsterdam Light festival:✨
There's something magical about Europe in winter, especially around Christmas. But no doubt the most exciting event in Amsterdam in that time is the light festival! During December, the works of 20 artists will illuminate the city and, most importantly, its canals! The festival and artworks change from year to year in this magical event that attracts tourists from all over the world, and rightly so! 🤩 So make sure not to miss out on this one!

3. Clubbing in Amsterdam:💃
We always try to include a recommendation for nightlife enthusiasts, those energetic and young (at heart) among you. On Saturday,
December 3rd, the first edition of Ohana will take place at Westerliefde in Amsterdam. This is a special 21+ party, full of tech house, deep house, feel-good house, and everything in between!🤩

4. Sinterklaas celebration at a museum:🏛️

1. Imerssive exhibition: Anne Imhof🤯
If you haven't had the chance to go to Anne Imhof's exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum, now is the time! The exhibition is highly immersive, where you walk through a maze designed by the artist by using art, architecture, sounds, and lighting. It's a powerful experience that cannot be described in words, but definitely worth a visit! 🤩

2. Art, antiques, and design fair: 👩‍🎨😍
Between the 19th - 27th of the month, the RAI Exhibition Center will host the Dutch fair for art, antiques, and design: PAN Amsterdam. If you're looking to buy (or just look at) amazing art, antiques, or design - this is the place to be! all you have to do is buy a ticket and hear to RAI. Enjoy! 😉

3. Clubbing in Amsterdam:🎊
The temperatures are dropping, which means that dancing is a great way to keep warm!💃On Friday, 25.11, Paradiso will host the "East Collective"- a techno collective from Amsterdam East- for their XXL edition. This is a night you surely don't want to miss !✨

4. Science and cocktails: 🧪
There is something awesome about listening to a lecture abroad. Especially one given in a cool bar, at eye level, with a performance afterward! So come and learn something new in a young atmosphere and with a cocktail in hand at the lecture "How do prejudice and racism develop in children?", just one free ferry ride away from Amsterdam Central Station (22.11). After the lecture, of course, there will be a live performance, so come prepared!🎶
