Every year, millions flock to Amsterdam's Gogh Museum to view the world’s largest collection of works by the Dutch post-impressionist painter who became one of the most influential figures in Western art. A fraction of those venture to The Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen, the small Dutch town where van Goghdevoted himself to painting for the first time, completing a quarter of his entire oeuvre, including "The Potato Eaters," his first real masterpiece.
My latest feature in the March/April 2025 issue of DUTCH reveals how you can to follow the artist's footsteps to the little village, where you can step into a painting rather than merely viewing it on a museum wall.
