Our high-heat tanker 𝐈𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is a regular visitor in the Dutch Westerschelde region. Last week, she discharged her cargo in Zelzate (Belgium) and is now on the way to Turkey to load her next cargo.

At the end of June, we said goodbye to 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐤, at the start of his well-earned retirement.

Frans joined the Iver Ships Operations team in March 2019, initially on a temporary assignment. However, with more than 30 years’ experience as a ship agent in Rotterdam, Frans quickly became the stable factor in our team. His wide knowledge and relaxed character made him a source of support and a valued mentor for our younger, international operators.

Frans could often be found on board the tankers, if they had questions or problems. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He would always remain calm and focused, the mentality of a true Rotterdammer!

👋 We said our farewells during a lunch in Breda, where Frans was surprised with gifts and fond memories. Although we will miss him, the time has come for Frans to finally enjoy his free time. We wish him, his wife Wilma and family all the best for a happy, healthy future!

𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫 – 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝

Seafarers keep global trade flowing, delivering food, medicine and vital goods around the world. Their work is essential to our lives and economies. Supported by colleagues in the office, Vroon’s highly trained and professional teams at sea operate our vessels safely and efficiently 24/7. 🙌 🌊

The 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫 is an annual event. Initiated by the Maritime Organization (IMO), it celebrates the important role seafarers play in our global community. Taking place on 25 June, this Day salutes the often-unrecognised contributions made by seafarers to international seaborne trade, the world economy and society.

The IMO’s theme for 2025 is ‘𝐌𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩’. This campaign aims to promote a culture of respect and zero tolerance for bullying and harassment at sea, seeking to:
✔️Raise awareness about the reality of harassment at sea.
✔️Promote proactive industry action to implement zero-tolerance policies.
✔️Encourage reporting and accountability through safe and accessible channels.
✔️Equip seafarers with resources and support to navigate and combat harassment.
✔️Support a better, safer future for all seafarers.

🌟 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🌟

A few weeks ago 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭. 𝐑𝐮𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞 and 𝟐/𝐄 𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐠 visited our Vroon-Fil Ship Management (VFSM) office in Manila for a regular briefing. We made the most of their visit, also inviting them to spend some time with a group of cadets. It was a meaningful moment when they connected with the cadets - to inspire, motivate and share the lessons both officers have learned through their own challenges.

Capt. Miole’s consistent advice to future officers is, “𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲”.

🎓 Mentoring empowers individuals, builds strong teams, preserves knowledge and inspires future leaders. It’s not only a professional tool, but also a meaningful investment in people.

Both these Officers are products of the 𝐕𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧-𝐊𝐕𝐍𝐑 𝐂𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 and currently serve on our high-heat tanker 𝑰𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒚. Ever since the start of the KVNR-PIT (De Koninklijke Vereniging van Nederlandse Reders/Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners - Palompon Institute of Technology) Cadetship Programme in 2001, we have continuously invested in the development of “homegrown” officers. A large number of senior officers originating from this programme still sail with us, with the retention rate of cadets who become a junior officer standing at around 70%.

Last week, the Iver Ships team successfully completed its annual ISO and DOC audits. On 6 and 7 May, Lloyd’s Register undertook the ISO and DOC audits for the Italian, Marshall Island, Portugal and Dutch flag DOCs, as well as ISO standards 9001, 14001 and 45001. The DOC audit for Gibraltar took place on 7 May.

The result of the audits are:
✅ DOC all respective flags: “0“ non-conformities, “0” observations;
✅ ISO 9001. 14001 and 45001: “0” non-conformities “0” observations.

🙌 We thank everybody on board and our office staff for all their input, dedication, cooperation and professionalism that ensured this positive result.

Iver Bitumen’s 𝐀𝐁 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐤 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 recently celebrated two decades with Vroon. His colleagues on board took the opportunity to congratulate him after the vessel had left her unloading port.

AB Perez thanked the Iver Bitumen team for their involvement and support. He expressed his gratitude to all those close to him, who have supported and strengthened him over the years, enabling him to reach this proud milestone.

After a number of contracts with Vroon between 1998 and 2002, Ireik Perez officially joined the company in April 2005, with his first assignment as Ordinary Seaman on livestock carrier Brahman Express. In 2008, he was promoted to Able Seaman, transferring to the Iver Ships fleet in 2012. After one contract on product tanker Iver Exporter, AB Perez has worked on our high-heat tankers since 2014, now approaching the end of his fourth contract with Iver Bitumen.

𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞

On 29 April, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of 𝐄𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐨, who works as electro-technical officer on board our high-heat tanker, Iver Beauty.

ETO Gavino embarked on his journey with Vroon Group in 2005, initially working as electrician on our Livestock Express and Vroon Offshore Services vessels. In 2011, he joined the Iver Ships fleet. Since obtaining his ETO licence in 2018, he has been a valued member of the teams on board Iver Best and Iver Beauty. His expertise helps ensure the seamless operation of our vessels, handling the unique challenges posed in the high-heat market.

Earlier this spring, ETO Gavino's jubilee was celebrated on board with his colleagues, reflecting the high regard and admiration he commands within the team.

👏 We extend our sincerest thanks to ETO Gavino for his contributions and commitment to safety and excellence over the years. Congratulations on this milestone! We wish you continued success and all the best for the future.
