🖤 Fracture — a painting about what war leaves behind
Mixed media on canvas, 80x60 cm, mixed media on cotton. Available.
“Remembrance is not just standing still in the past.
It is feeling what has been lost, and understanding what must never be forgotten.”
With Fracture, I didn’t simply want to create an image — I wanted to capture a feeling.
The feeling of brokenness that war and violence leave behind. Not just in places, but above all, in people.
Chaos. Destruction. Ruins. Grief. The tearing apart of lives and landscapes.
In this work, you see abstract lines and planes that clash, fracture and split.
Black, grey, orange and yellow — colours that to me represent scorched earth, smoke, pain, but also fragments of memory and hope.
The title Fracture refers to the cracks — both visible and invisible — that war inflicts on human lives.
For me, it is not just a painting, but a quiet tribute to all who have suffered, and still suffer, from wars both near and far.
