ON THE TRACKS OF 007 needs your help!
For a forthcoming 30th anniversary publication I am looking for anecdotes: Your short stories about funny, strange, exciting or unexpected things that happened to you while visiting a James Bond location. I have quite a few of these stories myself, so I can only assume you have them too.

If you have a short story you want to share with the rest of the world, and you‘re okay with me using it, please write it down in an e-mail and send it to [email protected] . Try to keep it below 150 words and if possible include a photo of yourself at the location you describe.

Have more anecdotes? More than one story? Feel free to enter as many as you want, but do realise stories might be edited and/or might not all be included.

The Yerebatan or Basilica Cistern in an underground waterreservoir that dates back to the dark ages. In 1963 the waterlevel was much higher, which shows in the scenes where Bond and Kerim go underground to the consulate. Nowadays it is one of the most visited and photographed tourist spots in Istanbul.

Finding the Russian Consulate where Tania worked as a cipher clerk took me several taxi rides through the city, before someone finally said he recognized my screenshot. Halaskargazi Cadesi is the curved street and it is far away from where all the other scenes were filmed. Lovely location.

A day before our Operation Krilencu tour of Istanbul started, I discovered this little gem. Inside the vast maze known as the Grand Bazaar I found the spot where Bond enters the shop that served as a fake front to Kerim's office, while being observed by the water drinking Bulgarian spy. I had actually never before attempted to find it, assuming it would be impossible to find as all streets inside the bazaar look alike. The water fountain gave it away though.

After visiting Kerim, Bond is driven away from the Grand Bazar following the same route again, past the Nuruosmaniye Mosque. In the back, entrance gate 1 is visible underneath the arch. It is also in this area that Ian Fleming was photographed several times walking with Pedro Armendariz and Robert Shaw, when he was visiting the From Russia With Love set.
