Fur Ski Maker ⛷️

Deep in China’s Altay region, one of the last traditional ski makers keeps an ancient craft alive. Evidence, including rock paintings dating back 13,000 years, suggests this is where skiing was born. These handmade skis—carved from wood and wrapped in horsehide—allowed hunters to move silently through dense forests and deep snow.

Meeting one of the last masters of this tradition was an absolute honor, and I’m grateful to share his story with you.
