🌍 Walter Colijn – Reisarchitect van de zee
Wanneer je Walter Colijn spreekt over cruises, merk je meteen: dit is geen doorsnee Travel Counsellor. Zijn ogen lichten op bij het woord “scheepsbezoek”, en zijn verhalen zijn doordrenkt met persoonlijke ervaringen, warme ontmoetingen en een scherp oog voor detail. Reizen is voor hem geen product, maar een beleving – en cruises zijn het podium waarop die beleving tot leven komt.
Walter begon zijn reis als Travel Counsellor met een missie: reizen ontwerpen die rust geven, inspireren en verrassen. Al snel groeide zijn fascinatie voor cruises uit tot een specialisatie. Niet alleen door brochures te lezen, maar door zelf aan boord te stappen.
Hij beleefde met zijn gezin een heerlijke vakantie afgelopen februari aan boord vanuit Miami en bezocht de Scarlet Lady van Virgin Voyages met 25 collega’s in Amsterdam, voltooide als eerste in Nederland hun trainingsmodule, en ontdekte hoe deze rederij de cruisewereld op z’n kop zet met flair, vrijheid en volwassenheid.
Maar zijn hart klopt ook voor de klassieke elegantie van Holland America Line. Aankomende donderdag vaart hij mee tijdens SAIL aan boord van een voormalige sloep van de MS Maasdam uit 1952.
Op zijn eigen Facebookpagina deelt hij verhalen, tips en routes – niet als verkoper, maar als liefhebber. “Met Holland America zit dat gegarandeerd snor,” schrijft hij, en dat voel je. Hij kent de schepen, de sfeer, de service. En hij weet precies welke reiziger zich thuis voelt aan boord.
Naast Virgin en HAL heeft Walter ook ervaring met rederijen als Explora Journeys, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises en AmaWaterways. Van oceaan tot rivier, van expeditie tot all-inclusive: hij stemt elk voorstel af op de reiziger.

He was also the first in the Netherlands to complete Virgin’s Seacademy training, discovering how this cruise line is shaking up the industry with flair, freedom, and a grown-up vibe.
But his heart also beats for the timeless elegance of Holland America Line. This Thursday, he’ll be sailing during SAIL Amsterdam aboard a restored tender from the MS Maasdam, built in 1952—a nod to HAL’s rich maritime heritage.
