In Memoriam
Wednesday April 7th 2021 our dear friend, guide for life, father & husband Robert (Bob) Sekeseke, born September 1968, has passed away.
There are no words to describe the grief his sudden passing has caused by his family and loved ones.
He will be missed dearly and remembered by countless friends, clients but above all his daughters, son and wife Rita.
We thank him for the warmth, joy and happiness he brought to all he encountered.
So many dreams are laid to rest together with this wonderful man.
Thank you Bob for being our father, partner and friend.
We trust he will be on the game drive of his life in God’s heavenly bush.
Rest in peace dear friend.

The African Wild Dog, one of the rarest wildlife sightings. They live in packs and have a strict hierarchy with an alpha breeding pair in charge. The other pack-members are subordinates and take care of the alpha puppies.
The African Wild Dogs are one of the few mammals that care for old, sick and disabled pack-members.

It has been a hot and dry summer in Botswana and surrounding countries. The waterlevels in the Okavango Delta are extremely low. Everything southwest of Chief’s Island is dry. When you visit Chief’s Island you can see the orange blaze of burning fires at the horizon where people try to make this newly claimed land ready for agriculture.
The Okavango river is fed by water from the Angolan highlands where less rain than usual has fallen. Angola too is suffering from drought. The little water that has fallen in the highlands is dammed by farmers, to keep as much of the water within the country as possible. This water will not flow to the Delta in Botswana. Another cause of the low water levels in the Okavango Delta is a Chinese contractor and a written agreement that allows him to pump 7 million liters of water out of the delta per day, for construction/mining purposes. 7 Million liters, per day. However, this agreement is currently investigated and most likely to be canceled. The Okavango Delta is Unesco World Heritage and Botswana, Angola and Namibia agreed that they would do everything within their power to protect the Okavango Delta and its wildlife.
Boat cruises and mokoro rides are currently not possible in the south-western part of the Delta. Some camps are now drive-in or fly-in instead of taking a boat. Mokoro rides can be done in other areas of the Delta.

Below two pictures of the same place in the south-west of the Okavango Delta. The first picture is taken in May 2016, the second picture was taken last month.

Let’s all hope for rain.

Meet Prince Moyo, here he is painting a beautiful cheeta for Paul’s daughter. Have you always wanted to learn how to paint a cheeta? Or are you just looking for an activity for your kids? Then you’re in luck because we offer art classes in Maun! Under the guidance of Prince Moyo you will paint your own cheeta (or rhino, elephant, leopard, …) in just 1-2 hours.
While you’re in Maun for the art class anyway, we suggest you also do a safari through the Okavango Delta. And guess what!? We happen to be specialized in mobile bush camps! 😁
