And there’s actually one more, and probably the biggest reason why I’m leaving Pinky in Czechia for now🇨🇿🩷

She has a customized Czech license plate, which I really want to keep. You can’t have a customized plate like that in the Netherlands, and changing it to a Dutch plate somehow feels like changing our whole identity and I’m just not ready for that yet. 🥹

I'll be travelling a lot for work over the next few months, so it simply makes more sense for her to stay in Czechia for the winter, where I know she’ll be safe.

And just to clarify, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a Vespa🛵 in the Netherlands. I’m only sharing my personal experience. Between the strong wind, the attempted theft, heavy traffic, mechanics and everything else, my experience with Pinky here unfortunately hasn’t been the best.

Maybe I just need to rebuild my trust in having her here before I bring her back🤷🏼‍♀️🩷

For now, Czechia feels like the right place for Pinky even though I'll miss her a lot🥹

Windshield: my love-hate relationship 🩷

I really don’t love how Pinky looks with a windshield, but after my big trip, I’ve completely changed my mind about riding without one 💯

I recently tried riding around my hometown without it, and the difference is huge. There’s so much more wind hitting you, which makes you noticeably more tired. Of course, it also helps with cold,bugs and rain, but the wind protection is the biggest benefit for me.

For short rides around town or commuting? Totally fine without it.
But for long rides, especially above 70 km/h, I wouldn’t go without a windshield anymore.

Mine is the medium-size windshield, and honestly, I think it’s the perfect middle ground between comfort and looks. 🛵💨🩷

📍Františkovy Lázně, my little hometown, where I grew up during my teenage years. 🤭🩷

It’s a small spa town in the west of the Czech Republic, very close to the German border, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site The Great Spa Towns of Europe.

And if you’re in the area, you can also visit two other famous Czech spa towns, Mariánské Lázně and Karlovy Vary. Together, the three towns are known as the West Bohemian Spa Triangle. ♨️🇨🇿

A little piece of home that I’m always happy to come back to. 🩷

Definitely one of the best times of my life. 🩷

4,000 kilometres. Three and a half weeks. One amazing 125cc GTS Vespa. And a lifetime of memories.

And for those wondering how on earth I ended up doing 4,000 kilometres... honestly, I was wondering the same thing. 😂 That definitely wasn't the plan.

But with my constant need to explore, going from one side to another, taking random detours, getting lost, changing my mind and chasing places I hadn't originally planned to visit... somehow, the kilometres just kept adding up.

And that's how a trip from Rome to Czechia turned into a 4,000-kilometre adventure.

And yes, that's excluding the ferry ride. 🤭

A huge thank you to everyone I met along the way for being part of this adventure. And to all of you here who followed along, supported me and cheered me on from behind your screens, massive thank you. 🩷

Hallstatt, my unexpected last stop. 🇦🇹

When I left Hallstatt, a huge rainstorm hit me and I got completely soaked. The annoying part? I knew the rain was coming. But after almost four intense weeks on the road, I was so tired of packing and unpacking Pinky that I didn't want to unpack the whole Vespa just to get to my waterproofs. So I hoped I might get lucky... I didn't. 🤭

And honestly, getting soaked was a bit of a wake-up call. I was quite tired.

On top of that riding a Vespa in heavy rain, especially without ABS, isn't much fun either. It gets slippery, and I have to stay super focused and be extra careful.

I also knew more rain was on the way, so I made the decision: Hallstatt would be my last stop. A pretty beautiful one, thankfully. 🥹

Instead of continuing to Prague, I headed straight to my hometown where I come from and where my parents live for some proper rest (West of Czechia). And I'm really glad I did, because shortly after I arrived, the heavy rain really did come. ☔

There were still a few places in Austria and southern Czechia I wanted to visit, but they're not going anywhere. They're close enough for another adventure.

After almost four weeks on the road, it was simply time for a break and also get back to work😬
