The Alexander Nevsky Church is the first traditional Russian Orthodox church building in the Netherlands. Built between 2002 and 2004, but it looks like it has been here for much longer.

During our tours, we often stop at the Laurenskerk. Built between 1449 and 1525, it is the only remaining late-Gothic building from medieval Rotterdam.

Fun fact: the tower looks like it is missing its spire. But that is not unfinished construction. A wooden spire was added in 1621, then removed in 1646 after the wood began to rot. The tower has kept its distinctive flat top ever since.

The Highlight Tour shows you the icons. The West Tour takes you into the neighbourhoods where Rotterdam feels less polished and more local. Jules Deelder lived here. Parts of it once belonged to Delft. Spangen became famous on Dutch television. And Historic Delfshaven is one of the few parts of Rotterdam that survived the bombing.
