💰Second class costs around 33 Swiss francs, while first class is about 56.50.

🏔️ Both classes have the same panoramic windows and spectacular views of glaciers and mountain scenery.

💺 First class has 2+1 seating, giving you more space and a quieter carriage. Second class is 2+2, but it’s still comfortable.

📸 And no, the windows don’t open for photos in either class!

💡 For better value, I’d book second class and spend the difference elsewhere on my Switzerland trip.

Vienna to Hallstatt for just 23.90€? The journey is almost as pretty as the village! 🇦🇹

🚆 Book an ÖBB Sparschiene ticket from Vienna Hauptbahnhof to Hallstatt Bahnhof. Advance fares start at 19.90€ one way, with journeys taking just over 3 hours. Select “Best price” when searching on the ÖBB website or app.

🏔️ Most routes involve one easy change at Attnang-Puchheim, where you’ll board the gorgeous Salzkammergut Railway through Austria’s lakes and mountains.

⛴️ Hallstatt Bahnhof is across the lake from the village. Walk down to the jetty and catch the ferry to Hallstatt Markt for 4€ each way. Bring cash because cards aren’t accepted.

💰 Sparschiene tickets are limited, tied to a specific train and cheapest when booked early, so plan ahead if you want the lowest fare.

Want to visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine from Kraków without paying for an organised package tour? 🇵🇱 You absolutely can!🧂

🎟️ Book a timed English Tourist Route ticket directly at wieliczka-saltmine.com. You can’t explore underground independently, but the mine’s compulsory guide is included with your admission ticket.

🚆 Next, take the direct train from Kraków Główny to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia. The journey takes around 23 minutes and currently costs 7.50 zł, approximately £1.45, each way.

🚶‍♀️The station is only a few minutes’ walk from the Daniłowicz Shaft entrance. Check times and buy your train ticket through Koleo.pl, leaving plenty of time before your booked mine entry.

Here’s exactly how I did it

🚆 Direct South Western Railway trains leave London Waterloo and can reach Wi******er in just 56 minutes. Advance singles start from £11.40, so check whether booking 2 singles is cheaper than a return. Book early at southwesternrailway.com for the lowest fares.

🏰 Wi******er is wonderfully walkable. Explore the historic Cathedral Close, stroll beside the River Itchen and visit Wi******er City Mill and the atmospheric ruins of Wolvesey Castle for free.

🥧 For lunch, head to Piecaramba on Parchment Street. This quirky comic-book-themed restaurant serves pie, mash, gravy and peas, with meals costing around £14.95.

🍺 Finish at The Black Boy on Wharf Hill, a brilliantly eccentric pub packed with vintage curiosities and taxidermy. Nothing accompanies a local ale quite like being watched by a stuffed badger.

💷 Two Advance train tickets, lunch and a pint can come to roughly £44, leaving a little spare within that £50 budget. Fares and menu prices vary, so always check before travelling.

Getting from Salzburg Airport to the city centre is quick, easy… and may cost you nothing extra! 🇦🇹

🎟️ Staying overnight in Salzburg? Every guest receives a Guest Mobility Ticket. Ask your accommodation to email it before you arrive so you can use it for the airport bus as soon as you land

🚌 Then take bus 10 towards the city centre in around 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday. Alternatively, bus 2 runs daily to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof in approximately 23 minutes. The stop is right outside the terminal.

💶 Don’t have your Guest Mobility Ticket yet? A one-hour core-zone ticket costs 2.60€ from the airport machine or online.

🚧 Check live departures using the Salzburg Verkehr app, especially while temporary city-centre roadworks are taking place.
