The family-owned shipyard employs more than 45 craftsmen and is located in Waalwijk, the Netherlands. Wim van der Valk is still a driving force behind the company. The yard has primarily earned its worldwide reputation from the award-winning semi-custom Continental series. Van der Valk Shipyard also has the capacity to build fully custom designs.

// LALABE Begins Sea Trials After Precise Lock Navigation

◻️ MY LALABE departed her shipyard last week for North Sea trials, but first faced the challenge of navigating through the narrow Bergsche Maas canal lock.

With the lock measuring just nine meters wide and LALABE's beam reaching 8.2 meters including rubbing strakes, precision was critical.

The partially-opening lock bridge added further complexity, requiring careful planning for superstructure clearance.

◻️ The day dawned perfect with sun and blue skies for the launch ceremony, attended by Project Samba’s highly experienced owners who were closely involved in all aspects of the yacht’s design.

The yacht will now undergo final stages of fit-out and sea trials before her handover in time to enjoy some Med cruising this summer.

In a neat mirror to the beat of her launch, she will be displayed at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival in September, marking her worldwide debut and sporting her new name, LALABE.

Built as Project Samba, the 35-metre all-aluminium tri-deck superyacht hit the water in the Netherlands on the same day the iconic film festival wrapped up in Cannes.
