09’13.5S 140’54.2W course 317’ speed 7,6 We have left the Marquesas behind. Our stop on Nuku Hiva was completed after a long and exhausting diesel haul with our dinghy. Our best friend the 8 horsepower outboard was friendly enough to be our hero one run and then refuse to start in the next run. With choke all the way out and pressing the prime every two seconds, we managed to do 6 runs ourselves.....

From our logbook: “It is more than a gift.

It is a blessing, shaped by hands and history — and now, part of our own.

Among the gifts of this journey, one now rests quietly on our deck and soon on our wall: a Marquesan hoe, carved by hand, carried by meaning.

Its blade is etched with the deep, curved patterns of tradition — a silent story of ocean paths, ancestors, and unseen strength.”

After a beautiful arrival on Hiva Oa on the morning of the 14th, we were greeted with incredible efficiency and warmth. Thanks to the support of our local contacts, we were able to clear in almost immediately and get our disembarking guests to the airport on time — what a gift. And just as smoothly, we welcomed our new group aboard, who had been patiently waiting for us for two days....

We made it to the Marquesas, just hours before the plane left! We had a celebration with a nice bourbon poured by Bob, a dive, a beautiful rainbow appeared and we were then helped by our agent to clear in and get to the airport! What a ride it has been!!

Currently we are on our way to Nuku Hiva, the most northerly island! Beautiful sailing!

Position 09°56.5’S 138°33.9’W | Course: 275° | Speed: 6.7 knots Today marks our final day at sea with this incredible group, and what a journey it has been. Since departing on May 10th, we have now been underway for 35 days, covering over 5,200 nautical miles. It’s been a voyage full of ups and downs — from stunning days under sail to stretches when the engine took over, like now, in these final miles before landfall....

🧵📍 Somewhere between ocean and island…
Today is National Sewing Machine Day 🧵

Ok we don't have a machine on board... BUT we’re celebrating with something truly special: our handmade Marquesan guest flag. Crafted on board by our very own Lisa, it proudly flies above the Tecla as a symbol of respect and arrival. 🌺⛵Onboard the Tecla, we use stitching a lot — whether mending sails, repairing canvas, or crafting our custom Marquesan guest flag. Every stitch tells a story of resilience and connection at sea 🌊

How have you used a sewing machine to create, repair, or personalize something meaningful?

Position: 11°36.8’S 133°15.8’W | Course: 300° Speed: | 7.0 knots What a full day of sailing it has been! We’ve done everything between 6.2 and 9.8 knots. The wind started off strong this morning and into the afternoon. It slowly began to shift more east, with even a touch of north in it — but it also eased a bit. To keep up our speed, we’re sailing slightly higher than Hiva Oa, but whenever the wind picks up again, we bear off westward....

Position: 13°29.6’S 130°43.7’W — Course: 308° — Speed: 7.5 knots Today was one of those near-perfect sailing days. The kind that makes you fall in love with the rhythm of the sea all over again. Sure, the wind was occasionally a little shy, slowing us down more than we’d like—but still, it was undeniably beautiful sailing. Just before lunch, we began preparations for a gybe....

Somewhere in the South Pacific, smooth sailing and cooler then a breeze, Bob is singing “They see me rollin” as he leans back hands relaxed on the steering wheel. “They wish they were this chill at the helm.”
Summer dresses on Sunday and a crew that is up to their usual shenanigans on the deck. “Are your arms more ape like or more t-Rex?! You know what?! Lie down and measure!”
