Winter is coming.
Bjarka is docked and will be well prepared for next season.
We have retreated to our camp and filled out storage with dried fish, meat, turnips, ramson and mead, and will strengthen up for a next spring.
See you!

Fembøringen Bjarka kom heim til Møre Frie Vikingar og Høvdingen vår Arve Yndestad for nokre år sidan. Å få ferdast på ei så vakkert skip er ein takksame for. Jakob Helset frå Bjørkedalen i Volda…

Bjarka the viking ship is getting ready for the season. Viking ships were the most advanced vessels of their time, used by the Vikings for exploration, trade, and warfare. These ships were designed to be both swift and sturdy, with a shallow draft that allowed them to navigate shallow waters and a flexible design that made them ideal for long voyages. Viking ships were also equipped with a range of advanced technologies, including a keel, a rudder, and a sail, which allowed them to travel further and faster than any other ships of their era. Today, Viking ships are celebrated for their beauty and their historical significance, and they remain an enduring symbol of Viking culture and seafaring prowess. Photo by Thomas Smoor Isaksen

The Viking Skald, was also known as the Viking poet, storyteller and rockstar. You can say that the Viking Skald was the influencer of the viking age. His (or hers) verses are the reasons we know the sagas, which were not written down in the Viking age, but were recited from hall to hall. Einar at Rollos Footsteps is not only an Earl but also a fantastic Skald. Visit Rollos Footsteps and hear the Viking sagas. Book your tour today at www.rollosfootsteps.no
