For Synnøve, the feeling of being at the cabin is something worth sharing.
Growing up, she spent a lot of time at the family cabin. Long days outside, meals around the table, time with family and friends, and the simple pleasure of having nowhere else to be. When she and her father Jan began developing Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge, they wanted to bring some of that feeling into what they created.
The Norwegian cabin tradition became the heart of Bjørnfjell. So did the local farming culture of Alta. You can find little traces of it throughout the lodge, from the grass-covered roofs to the firewood in the reception and the cups used in the restaurant. It is their way of bringing a little piece of local life indoors.
But nature is never far away. The moment you step outside, you are surrounded by the landscape. In summer and autumn, the sound of the stream mixes with the sheep on the farm. In winter, the snow transforms the surroundings, with the northern lights overhead before the midnight sun returns in spring.
At Bjørnfjell, the experiences are right outside the door. But just as important is what happens when you come back inside: sitting around the table, sharing a meal, and enjoying the feeling of being at the cabin.
For Synnøve and Jan, that is what Bjørnfjell is all about. Sharing a place shaped by the landscape, local traditions, and their own love of cabin life.
