☀️ Mid summer is around the corner ☀️
The longest day of the year in Norway marks a special day each year.
People all over the country celebrate in their own way, sometimes even with a bonfire on the beach or by the fjord. In places like Ålesund, they’ve even built record-breaking bonfires of 40 meters tall!
While it’s not a national holiday like in Sweden, Norwegians definitely mark the day, especially around June 23rd, which is known as Jonsok or St. Hans aften (St. John’s Eve), closely tied to the summer solstice.
Even in the fjords, below the Arctic Circle, the sun barely goes under the horizon. These long days give you the perfect opportunity to go hiking at 10 o'clock in the evening or get up at 5 in the morning to drink your morning coffee in the morning light.
