⛰️ Besseggen – straight from Oslo! 🥾

Besseggen is one of the best-known hikes in Jotunheimen, famous for the narrow ridge and the contrast between the green waters of Lake Gjende and the darker mountain lake Bessvatnet.

This 2-day trip makes it possible to experience the hike directly from Oslo. The first day takes you by bus into Jotunheimen, where you stay overnight at Gjendesheim.

The next morning, you travel by boat across Lake Gjende before starting the hike back towards Gjendesheim.

The route is demanding, with steep sections and a long day in the mountains, but the views from the ridge make it one of the most memorable hikes in Norway.

A great option if you want to combine a short stay in Oslo with a real mountain experience in Jotunheimen.

Can you guess the hike? 👀⛰️

One of Norway’s most famous mountain hikes – known for its dramatic ridge and the view towards the green waters of Gjende and the deep blue Bessvatnet.

A true classic in the Norwegian mountains.

🥾 Product of the Month: Gjende Ridges – Knutshøe & Besseggen

Two ridges. Autumn colours. Big mountain views.

This 4-day self-guided hiking adventure combines two of Jotunheimen’s most spectacular ridge hikes – Knutshøe and Besseggen.

Spend your days high above Gjende, surrounded by mountain peaks, lakes and the first colours of autumn, and return to Gjendesheim for local food and a comfortable evening.

This tour is designed for hikers in normal to good physical shape who are comfortable with rocky mountain trails and some exposed sections. Transport from Oslo, accommodation, meals, the Gjende boat and transfer to Knutshøe are all included.

Summer is still here, but autumn is just around the corner.

We take care of the practical details – you bring the hiking legs! 🍂 ⛰️

Our guests said it better than we could💙

It’s been a busy summer already, with hiking boots on the trails, bikes on the gravel roads, boats crossing the mountain lakes and guests travelling through Jotunheimen and Valdres.

Behind every trip there’s quite a bit of work. Booking accommodation and transport, coordinating luggage, preparing routes and travel information, and making sure the different parts of the journey come together as smoothly as possible.

While the summer season is far from over, many of our guests have already shared their experiences with us. So instead of telling you how it’s going, we thought we’d let them do it.

There’s still plenty of summer left ⛰️🚲🥾

🚴 Sharing our home – gravel, community and the Mjølkevegen

There is something special about showing people the places you know and love.

This summer, we spent a few days riding the Mjølkevegen with an international group of tour operators, cycling professionals and guests – exploring some of our favourite gravel roads through Valdres and beneath the mountains of Jotunheimen.

The trip was organised in cooperation with Visit Valdres and Mountains of Norway, with support from Innlandet County Council. Our very own Glenn Roar had the pleasure of guiding the trip together with Silje Wilson from Mountains of Norway.

We were also joined by Markus Stitz – adventure cyclist, author, filmmaker and photographer, and founder of Bikepacking Scotland – who captured the journey through photography and film.

But Mjølkevegen is about much more than great gravel. It is the quiet roads, big landscapes, small places to stay, good food, local hosts – and the people you share the journey with.

In our latest blog, Glenn shares some personal thoughts from the trip, the gravel community and why we believe Mjølkevegen has something very special to offer.

⛴️ M/B Bitihorn – part of the adventure in Jotunheimen

A journey across Lake Bygdin is not only a beautiful boat trip – it is also the start or finish of several great hiking adventures in Jotunheimen.

Take M/B Bitihorn from Bygdin to Torfinnsbu and continue on foot through Svartdalen to Gjendebu, one of the classic valleys of Jotunheimen. From Torfinnsbu, you can also head for the peaks around the lake, including a guided hike to Torfinnstind.

The boat is also part of several of our longer self-guided journeys, including the Historical Route and our Discover Jotunheimen routes.

Or simply stay on board and enjoy the full journey between Bygdin and Eidsbugarden, surrounded by the mountains of Jotunheimen 🏔️
