Visit Nordkyn

Visit Nordkyn Nordkyn is the northernmost region on the European mainland. Beautiful scenery, Arctic adventures and Sami experiences await you here - Where Nature Rules.

The distance between the coast and the mountain ranges is short. The seconds between calm and storm are few. When the hunting is good and the fish bite, it’s easy to choose Nordkyn. This is the top – as far north as you can go on Europe’s mainland. This is where nature rules. Welcome to Nordkyn!

Naturen har ikke dårlig vær.
Hver type vær viser fram stedet på sin egen måte og skaper sin egen stemning.
Det er typisk for nordområdene og Arktis.
Og for Nordkyn.

Following the season of the Midnight Sun, Nordkyn has entered a season of magical pastel colours.

And soon, the time of golden autumn and colourful tundra will begin.

August and September on Nordkyn are beautiful in their own way: soft light, more and more colour across the tundra, and nature changing almost every day.

Summer is slowly coming to an end, but the tourist season continues.
Welcome to Nordkyn!

Discover Nordkyn by e-bike

In our view, one of the best ways to discover Nordkyn is on a short one-day trip by e-bike.

And here’s why:
- An e-bike makes it much easier for almost everyone to handle the hilly terrain of our region.
- Travelling by e-bike is environmentally friendly.
- An e-bike lets you cover enough distance to reach beautiful places and return within the same day. At the same time, you are still travelling slowly enough to enjoy the landscape, take your time and find those special places to stop, take in the view and take photographs.
- A bike gives you the freedom to stop whenever you want, make small changes to your route and spend more time in the places you like.
- And perhaps most importantly, travelling this way brings you much closer to nature. You are not looking at the world through a car window. You feel the wind and the air, hear the sea and the birds, and become part of the landscape around you.

The comfortable season for e-bike trips on Nordkyn is roughly from 15 May to 15 September.

From Mehamn and Kjøllefjord, there are more than ten different options for one-day and two-day trips. Everyone can choose a route depending on the level of difficulty, the time available and what they would most like to see.

E-bikes are available to rent in both villages.
And there is still time to take a little e-bike adventure on Nordkyn this year!

Ytre Staurvika

Summer, the Nordkyn way.

A slow journey through northern nature. Beauty, peace and space to breathe.

A place that helps you leave the fast pace of city life behind.
A place where you can come closer to nature — and feel part of it.

It is something worth experiencing for yourself.

Some places are worth visiting not only for the view, but also for the taste.
Dyfjordbua is a small and welcoming tavern located beside the fish factory on the harbour of the tiny fishing village of Dyfjord, on the south-western coast of the Nordkyn Peninsula.

The drive there is an experience in itself, following one of the peninsula's scenic coastal roads.
If you would like to discover what local cuisine really means, this is one of the places not to miss.

Fresh fish and seafood landed by local fishermen. Lamb from the neighbouring farm.
Reindeer supplied by local Sámi.
Seasonal berries and other gifts from Arctic nature.
Combined with traditional local recipes and warm northern hospitality, every meal tells a story about this place and the people who live here.
Whether you stop by for a bowl of their famous fish soup, fresh cod tongues, locally caught fish, whale, king crab, prawns or homemade cake with Arctic berries, you'll enjoy flavours that are deeply connected to Nordkyn.

If you are exploring the peninsula, make time for a visit to Dyfjordbua. We think you'll be glad you did.
For opening hours and the current menu, please visit Dyfjordbua's page.

Yesterday may have been the last sunset of the Midnight Sun season.

On 1 August, the sun will dip below the horizon for the first time in more than two months. At first, it will disappear only briefly. Then, day by day, twilight will slowly return, followed by the first real Arctic nights.

August and September are among the most beautiful and atmospheric months for photography in the Arctic. They are also a time of peace and quiet. As the summer season gradually comes to an end, visitor numbers begin to decrease, while nature continues to reveal new colours, new light and new moods.

There is still plenty of time to experience Nordkyn in all its Arctic beauty – to enjoy the peaceful landscapes, the changing light and the quiet rhythm of life in the far north.
