Gratulerer med dagen, Norge 🇳🇴!

🇳🇴 Happy Constitution Day, Norway! ❤️

Today is the day when we all confess our love to this beautiful country, and the morning always begins with the anthem:
“Ja, vi elsker dette landet” 😊🇳🇴

Then comes the traditional champagne breakfast 🥂, followed by parades, waving flags and flowers, and absolutely everyone dressed in bunads — Norway’s national costumes: beautiful, warm… and very expensive 🤩

After the parade, everyone disappears to celebrate in their own way:
first sausages and burgers with beer 🌭🍔🍺
and then comes the sacred mission — eating an entire bucket of ice cream 🍦😁

Here in Ålesund we got lucky today — the sunshine is bright, so the ice cream feels perfectly justified 🌞
Meanwhile in Bergen… well, it’s raining as usual 🤷‍♀️😩

And by the evening, everyone is ready to sing:
“Ja, vi elsker 17. mai!” ❤️

Tomorrow we go back to work…
and start waiting for next year

Sometimes Norway feels like pure magic 🇳🇴

Just look at this map…
Meteorologists shared the number of sunshine hours in April — and suddenly, the North is leading 😳

Karasjok — a place known as one of the coldest in Norway — has become the sunniest, with an incredible 205 hours of sunshine ☀️

Isn’t that incredible 😳?

The very place that was dark, frozen, and harsh all winter…
is now filled with light, warmth, and long golden days ✨

This is how nature quietly restores balance.
Darkness turns into light. Cold turns into warmth.

This weekend in Ålesund the weather is wild — rain, snow in the mountains, and a real chill in the air.
But the sunshine will return soon.

And maybe that’s the most important reminder —
no matter the weather, may the warmth in our hearts never fade.
The world 🌍 needs more kindness and human warmth right now…
Perhaps nature is gently showing us the way ❤️

Between the islands of Risøya and Hasseløya and the mainland stretches the narrow strait of Smedasundet —
the very heart of it all, where herring was once prepared, salted, and sent out into the world.

The old houses by the water still remember those days
