Girona has a legend about flies saving the city. Yes, flies.

The story says a swarm rose from the tomb of Sant Narcís during the French siege of 1285 and drove the attackers away. It is a local legend, not a verified explanation of the siege. The basilica in the video is Sant Feliu, where the story is set.

Here’s an idea for your day in Positano. 🍋

Start in the square outside Santa Maria Assunta, the church with the colourful dome. Beneath it, the MAR museum lets you see the painted walls of a Roman villa buried after Vesuvius erupted in AD 79.

Back outside, head down to Spiaggia Grande. Turn around for the view of the houses up the hillside, then take a beach break.

Later, you could stop for a drink at Franco’s Bar. If you’re staying out, Music on the Rocks is a nightclub by the beach. Check opening dates, hours and entry details before you go.

What actually happens at Oktoberfest? 🍻

Munich's annual festival brings Bavarian culture to life with huge b**r tents, brass bands, traditional food and fairground rides. Think long tables, pretzels and music, with plenty to explore beyond the b**r.

It takes place at the Theresienwiese festival grounds in Munich, Germany, from 19 September to 4 October 2026. Twelve of its sixteen days fall in September, despite the name.
