Would you like to set on a Tour of Discovery? Would you like to travel in the wake of the Viking Leif Eriksson and explore Vinland, Markland, Hóp and all the sites the Vikings visited in North America? Would you like to figure out where Leif's Camp was? Where he found the Grapes and Butternut Trees? Where the Vikings met with Native Americans? Where little Snorri Thorfinnsson, the first European born in America, spent his first years? Then take a tour with Vinland Travel and join us exploring "Vinland the Good" from Newfoundland, to Quebec City, to Miramichi Bay, to Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy down to New York City! :)

1. VIKING SITES DISCOVERY TOUR (6 days/ 5 nights):
- The journey starts in wonderful Halifax NS. We visit the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre near Truro where we are guided through the history and culture of the Mi'kmaq First Nation who have lived in this area for thousands of years and may have been the first native people to greet the Vikings in "Vinland". From here we pass through the Scotish-Gaelic Town of Antigonish before crossing the Strait of Canso into magical Unama¨ki, Cape Breton Island. We drive along the spectacular Bras d'Or lake and into the beautiful Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Here we visit two potential Viking sites, Krossanes and Kjalarnes, of the Sagas. After a visit to Sydney, the Capital of Cape Breton Island, we cross the Cabot Strait to Port Aux Basques in Newfoundland. From here the journey takes us to Point Rosee, the most recent Viking Site discovered in Canada. We then drive through Codroy Valley, with its lush green vegetation, before arriving in Corner Brook, the second biggest town in Newfoundland. From here we continue north to the stunningly beautiful Gros Morne National Park where we spend a whole day. From here we follow the "Viking Trail" to the 1000 year old Viking settlements in L'Anse Aux Meadows, that may have been built by Leif Eriksson and his men, and visit the reconstructed Viking village of Norstead. From here we can either continue on the exciting Markland to Vinland Ferry Cruise to Quebec City or take a scenic flight back to Halifax.

2. MARKLAND to VINLAND Ferry Cruise (4 days/ 3 nights):
- This tour is a continuation of the Viking Sites Tour, however, by booking in advance one may also start the tour here given there are seats available.
- The journey starts on a Friday in St. Anthony. We reach St. Barbe in time for the first ferry crossing the Strait of Belle Isle to Blanc Sablon on the Quebec-Labrador border. There we board a Ferry Cruise that takes us on a spectacular 3 day journey, in the wake of Leif Eiriksson, along the north coast of Bay of St. Lawrence towards Rimouski and Quebec City. We stop at numerous little fishing villages on the way, including St. Augustin, Harrington Harbour, La Romaine and Port Menier on Anticosti Island. Anticosti Island is by many considered to be the same island that Thorfinn Karlsefni gave the name Bjarney (Bear Island). Vinland Travel can arrange hotel rooms and flights to Quebec for those that like to stay a bit longer on the Island. The journey ends in Quebec City on a Monday. From here we can either continue on the scenic and gastronomic Vinland-Mi'kma'ki Tour from Quebec City via Gaspésie, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island to Halifax.

3. VINLAND - MI'KMA'KI TOUR (6 days/ 5 nights):
- This tour starts in Quebec City but can also be taken as a continuation of the Markland to Vinland Ferry Cruise or the Acadia-Vinland Tour.
- The journey starts in beautiful Quebec City, perhaps the most likely location for Leif Eiriksson's Vinland. We travel west along the St. Lawrence River to Rivière-Trois-Pistoles, that may have been the location of "Einfætingaland" in the Sagas. From here we pass through Rimouski on our way to the scenic Gaspésie peninsula.

6. VIKING SITES / FIRST CONTACT TOUR (6 days/ 5 nights):
- The journey starts with a scenic flight from Halifax to St.Anthony in Newfoundland. We explore the 1000 year old Viking settlements in L'Anse Aux Meadows, that may have been built by Leif Eriksson and his men, and visit the reconstructed Viking village of Norstead. - From here we follow the Viking Trail south to the beautiful Gros Morne National Park and Bonne Bay. - On the third day we visit the bustling town of Corner Brook, the second biggest in Newfoundland, before exploring Codroy Valley and Point Rosee, the Viking Site discovered in 2015. - On the fourth day we cross Cabot Strait to Sydney, the capital of Cape Breton Island. - From here the journey takes us to two potential Viking and Mi'kmaq sites, including Krossanes and Kjarlarnes that are mentioned in the Sagas. We visit beautiful Ingonish Bay and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. - On the sixth and last day we cross the Strait of Canso into mainland Nova Scotia where we e.g. visit the Scotish-Gaelic Town of Antigonish and the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre near Truro where we are guided through the history and culture of the Mi'kmaqi First Nation who have lived in this area for thousands of years and may have been the first native people the Vikings met in "Vinland". - The tour ends in the beautiful City of Halifax.

Ferð 3 - Straumfjörður á Vínlandi í kjölfar Karlsefnis
Flug frá Keflavík til Halifax. Ferðast um Nova Scotia og yfir Fundy flóa sem margir telja vera Straumfjörður Karlsefnis enda er flóinn þekktur fyrir mestu sjávarföll í heimi. Við heimsækjum m.a. hina sérstæðu Hopewell Rocks kletta, hinn undurfallega Acadía þjóðgarð í Maine og Naskeag Point þar sem fannst Norsk mynt frá dögum Ólafs konungs kyrra. Í bakaleiðinni verður slegið upp sjávarréttaveislu í Shediac, humar höfuðborg Canada.

Ferð 2 - Vínland hið góða í kjölfar Leifs
- Flug frá Keflavík til Halifax, Nova Scotia. Ferðast um hina ægifögru Cape Breton eyju áður en haldið er áfram til Nýfundnalands og upp til L'Anse aux Meadows þar sem Leifur líklega byggði búðir sínar. Siglt með ferju meðfram norðurströnd St. Lawrence flóa og áfram til einnar fallegustu borgar í Norður Ameríku, Quebec, en þar telja margir að Vínland Leifs hafi verið. Ekið tilbaka til Halifax meðfram ströndum New Brunswick í gegnum Miramichi flóa og Kouchiboucac þjóðgarðinn en báðir staðir hafa einnig hafa verið taldir líklegir sem Vínland Leifs.

- Vinland Travel is now certified as a Limited Company by the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales and by the Brønnøysund Register Centre in Norway!
- We are now putting together some really exciting tours to Atlantic Canada (on busses, boats and cruises) where we plan on e.g. visiting the old Viking settlements and search for Vinland the Good!!
