Have you ever explored Norway by cruise? 🚢
Hurtigruten, the iconic Norwegian coastal expedition cruise sailing along the coastline between ports and remote destinations, includes a stop on Senja during the summer season.
And that's the perfect opportunity to experience more of the island with us! 🤩

Many visitors choose classic sightseeing by bus and see a few of Senja’s highlights.
But if you prefer a more personal and flexible experience, we offer small-group explorations with local guides and comfortable 4x4 vehicles, allowing us to adapt to weather and road conditions and reach scenic spots larger buses often cannot access.

Our tours are carefully timed with the Hurtigruten stop in Torsken, so you can enjoy Senja stress-free and comfortably return to your ship on time.

👉 Check our Discover Senja from Hurtigruten tour. Link to the tour offer is in the comment.

You + me + Senja this summer? 🤍

One of Norway’s most underrated islands. Yet easily one of the most beautiful.
Often called “Norway in miniature,” Senja has it all: dramatic mountains, turquoise beaches, scenic roads and wild Arctic nature without the crowds.

A hidden paradise made for adventure, road trips, and unforgettable summer memories.

Discover Senja this summer, on your own or together with us on a guided tour. 🤗

Planning a trip to Senja? Read this first.

Senja becomes more recognizable every year. Named “Norway in miniature,” it truly lives up to its name, offering stunning views, green landscapes, and endless hiking opportunities.

Often chosen as an alternative destination to Lofoten, being less crowded while offering more diverse scenery.

There are a few things you need to consider when traveling to this second-largest island in Norway.

First, take your time and travel slowly. Distances on the map between your planned stops may seem short, but narrow roads, occasional traffic, and the feeling that you need to stop everywhere for photos can significantly extend your travel time.

Plan less for each day. Don’t try to squeeze every place into a single day. Senja is best enjoyed when you give yourself more time to explore.

Reverse your sleep schedule: sleep during the day and explore at night, when the light is better and the roads are empty.

Don’t rely on public transportation, it’s very limited. Renting a car or joining a guided tour gives you much better options for traveling around the island.

Lets us know if you already planned your Arctic vacation and if Senja is on your list ☺️

April on Senja surprised us.

For a long time this month was either still very wintery with lots of snow and cold temperatures or the transition month with lots of rain, clouds and melting snow.

This year was different, it gave us our first Arctic spring and that was amazing 🤩 We enjoyed the sun for 20 days in the row! Trees started blooming, the snow was gone, the day was long.

This is also our first time in years, that one of us (Mary to be precise) is staying on Senja during that time. And I couldn’t be happier. I would be sad if I miss this.
I used that time for hiking, enjoying nature and outdoors, showing you Senja in this unique time.

But of course, it’s still Arctic with it’s unpredictable weather and climate, so after those sunny days, we’ve got snowed in over one weekend and now it’s only rain and rain.

So here’s few shots to remember this April, because it was really something that I wasn’t expecting.

Kaperdalen: a hidden SĂĄmi story on Senja.

The SĂĄmi are the Indigenous people of northern Europe, living across a region called SĂĄpmi, which stretches through Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, descendants of reindeer herders from Sweden settled on Senja. Their history here goes back long before modern borders existed
Moving slightly inland from the already populated coastline, they cleared land in the valley of Kaperdalen and built a unique way of life.

It was a life of balance: small-scale farming, a few animals, seasonal fishing and a deep reliance on nature.

Today, Kaperdalen remains one of the best-preserved SĂĄmi settlements of this kind in Norway. Walking through the valley, you can still find traces of this life.
It’s a place worth visiting with a story worth understanding.

You can experience and learn more about SĂĄmi history on our Into the Wild tour, where nature and storytelling come together.
